Basically im currently running an AMD R9 380 4G (gpu) and an fx 8350. I want to upgrade my gpu to a gtx 1070 (getting a VR kit) but im aware it will bottleneck due to my cpu. This would only be temporary as im planning to upgrade my cpu to a Ryzen 5 3500 (need to save up).

My main question is, would my experience using the 1070 bottlenecked be bad to the point of unplayable. Or will it be just underperforming?
(If anyone has any other gpu recommendations please mention - I can get a 1070 for around £220 on ebay new)
Hope someone can help

Thanks :)

Solution
The word "bottleneck" does not mean what you think it does.

Putting in a better GPU will not reduce your performance. At absolute worst, it will be the same.
It will probably be a little bit better.

You should start your own thread. Don’t use those bottleneck calculators they are complete misleading garbage.

Assuming 1080p then yes in modern cpu heavy games your cpu and RAM will be a limiting factor but you cannot attach a % to this. Less cpu heavy games will have less/no limitation especially if running a resolution like 1440p.
