I purchased a JBL 1000 soundbar and I am having issues connecting it to my current setup. I have a
Gigabyte G5 KD laptop with the hdmi out connected to my soundbar's hdmi input and a cable from the hdmi output/e-arc of the soundbar to an Epson Powerlite 1040 Home Cinema projector which has no arc/e-arc.
Windows 11 sound options only displays Epson PJ. This gives the image to the projector, but the sound from the soundbar is not surround as I can hear every dialogs on every speakers, including rear.
If I turn off the projector, I get the JBL 1000 entry in the sound options, with proper Dolby Atmos. So I tried with a splitter. If the projector is set in output 1 and the soundbar on output 2, I get the same issue with only Epson PJ in the sounds option. If the soundbar is set in output 1 and the projector on output 2, I get the JBL 1000 sound option BUT the image gets shrunk to 1080p, while the projector itself is 1920x1200.
I actually managed to make it work-ish, by the laptop hdmi to the soudbar input as before, but then using a usb-c adapter with a hdmi output to the projector. In this case I have stuttering in my games, which I believe could be due to the screen not directly connecting to the GPU and incurring a performance loss. The reverse (soundbar via usb-c) does not work.
Is there a way to make this work?
