[SOLVED] I've had this problem after building my new PC. I've tried lots of things to try and fix it but nothing has helped.

I've just built my new PC and decided to use a Seagate Barracuda 3TB HDD to use as a file space. The HDD was bought from Amazon new but I think the drive is broken. I hear no bad noises from the drive and the computer recognises it but doesn't want to boot to Windows. Instead an American Megatrends message appears.

It detects 2 devices (M.2 Samsung 970 Evo Plus 500GB) and my HDD (SATA6G_3 ST3099DM007-1WY10G). The error message is as follows: SMART Failure Predicted in SATA6G_3: ST3000DM-1WY10G.

WARNING Please back-up your data and replace your HDD.

A failure may be imminent and cause unpredictable fail. Press F1 to run setup.

Can you...just have the M2 installed....and install Windows?
This is what you want to do before you add any other drives.
Otherwise there can be problems.
I'm not sure if the problem you are seeing is due to you installing Windows with two drives connected or not.....but regardless....you don't want Windows installed this way.
Basically (I'm pretty sure) I installed Windows onto my M.2 but whenever I try and start up my PC it doesn't boot to Windows so in guessing it hadn't installed onto the m.2. The PC runs without the HDD hooked up but it sends me straight into the BIOS. when I plug the HDD and restart my PC it gives me the American Megatrends message again.

No, so the bios doesn't give me the option to boot Windows unless the HDD is plugged in. I had installed Windows around 15 hours ago . When I installed Windows both the HDD and the M.2 were installed but I selected he M.2 when installing the Windows software.
