All these years... I kept my kali serial numbers. Now its back and I saved $10.. whoohoo. 
Actually its just the cool factor of the original kali where some of us played WC2 before the rest of you had 56k.
For those not in the know, Kali allowed every game to be playable online (and still does), all that was required was LAN capability. It worked very well also.
I actually prefered Kali over battlenet for diablo as you could adventure online with 8 characters in a dungeon at once instead of 4!!
I think Kali still has a spot, for those without valid CD keys to their favorite games (yes if you are a thief, kali is your spot!), and for games that dont have a decent way built in to play online, I noticed some games of aliens vs pred 2 going on... never played the game but it might be one.
