Hey everyone, I'm looking to get a KVM switch for my laptop and PC setup. Basically I want to be able to easily switch between my laptop and PC while having both devices connected to my 2 monitors, keyboard, and mouse like in this video (
View: https://www.youtube.com/watch?app=desktop&v=1lxk7AphhcY
) also the Split desktop mode they mentioned would be a nice to have too. Here is my setup:
  • PC with AMD Radeon RX 6700 XT (3 DP, 1 HDMI)
  • Laptop: ThinkPad E14 Gen 6 (1 HDMI)
  • Monitor 1: Acer GN246HL (144Hz) (HDMI)
  • Monitor 2: Dell P2012H (60Hz) (HDMI)
  • Keyboard and mouse are both USB
The main requirement I have is that it should be able to run 144 Hz on monitor 1 since I will be using it for gaming. Please let me know if you have any recommendations for a KVM switch that would suit my setup. I assume I would need an adapter for my laptop since it only has 1 HDMI port. My laptop does come with USB and USB C ports so recommendations for adapters would be appreciated too.

Thank you!

I think perhaps the question they are asking is are there other similar KVM switches of better value—however they ascribe value in this case.
Value = price to performance ratio.

Sure, there are cheaper KVM Switches out there, but those doesn't have required features. E.g like 144 Hz on 1080p, asked by OP. The one in the video, does support 144 Hz on 1080p.

And lastly, i don't try to guess what OP is thinking. Instead, i read what is written.
OP doesn't say that they want cheaper (better value) option than in the video. But OP does say that they want same setup as in the video. And best way to achieve that - buy the same KVM Switch as seen in video + follow the setup guide shown.

Sometimes, people see something fancy in the video and post the video in forums, to get same/similar item for themselves. But most people doesn't look the video description, where the showcased hardware is listed, often with purchase links. And this is what i think happened here.

I apologize for not being clear in my post. I am indeed trying to see if there is a cheaper switch than the one in the video, or if there are better alternatives in general.

(I also did take a look at the links in the video description before making this thread)

So, you throw out random link of KVM Switch, with 0 word about it and without ever reading OP's requirements?

1. On the amazon page, it says it can do up to 60 Hz. OP requires 144 Hz.
2. It is single monitor KVM Switch. While OP clearly stated that they have dual-monitor setup and require dual-monitor KVM Switch.

With these two main requirements missing, that cheapo 40 bucks, single-monitor, 4x PC, KVM Switch is useless for OP.

This is what i call; giving a bad advice. :non:

Dual-monitor KVM Switches cost far more than single-monitor KVM Switches. Especially when KVM Switch needs to output 144 Hz.

But other dual-monitor KVM Switches are:
CKL, 60 Hz, USB 2.0, 100 bucks, amazon: https://www.amazon.com/Extended-CKL-Microphone-Keyboard-CKL-922HUA/dp/B08DLS2SP6
TESmart, 100 Hz, USB 2.0, 180 bucks, amazon: https://www.amazon.com/TESmart-Monitor-Switch-Updated-Support/dp/B083MZSVFM
TESmart, 100 Hz, USB 3.0, 270 bucks, amazon: https://www.amazon.com/TESmart-Monitor-Switch-Updated-Support/dp/B0C4PTDFGD

Making the initial KVM Switch, best for your needs,
TESmart, 144 Hz, USB 2.0, 100 bucks: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0D341GXYF

There is pay the money for the 144 Hz or show OP alternative items. OP said he is looking for cheaper and nothing posted is cheaper than the 99.99 in first post for 144 Hz.

Is not one on the OP requirements cheaper?

You have a great day Aeacus I do fully respect your points of view.

Were here to help people or am I missing something.

As i said, dual-monitor KVM Switches cost a lot of money. Hence the initial suggestion, meeting all the requirements, was all what needed to be suggested.

After OP asked for additional options, i posted those. Additional options doesn't have to be better/cheaper, but are there to show the market situation with dual-monitor KVM Switches (mainly, that those do cost quite a bit).

Is not one on the OP requirements cheaper?
Cheaper would only apply when all other requirements are also met.

Suggesting different hardware, which is useless for OP, is not helpful.

E.g when someone asks for 4K 120 Hz monitor options and you then post 1080p 60Hz monitor, with the excuse of it being cheaper. Yeah.. No.
Pointless to post hardware that is outside of the requirements.

I see, thank you for the links; I'll check them out. It does seem like the KVM switch in the video would be best for me so I'll probably get that.

See this worked out pretty good. Give the OP another choice and the higher cost of getting the required equipment now seems trivial.
So the whole main difference really is between 60 Hz and 120 Hz.
