LAN through electricity network

Recently my boss need me to find information about the LAN sollution through electricity net work which is the LAN network that doesnt use regular network cables. These electricity LAN will use the already existed electricity lines as cable
What I want to ask here is what is the technical name for this type of network, if someone know what it is called or any thing regarding these network please tell me. I really appriciate you guys's helping. Thanks in advance

We have some customer that want powerline network for their building(pretty big)

IMHO Power LAN is not suitable for a large building. Power LAN uses the power supply line as a shared media. The Power LAN solutions i know, are for home use only.

Well, I've been surfing the web for those sollutions, and its seem to be just like you said. But our situation here is not support the LAN throughout the whole building.
Here is Hanoi VietNam a normal bussiness building may has around 20 companies that have seperated LAN.
So it's like 20 homes only.
If we divide A large building--->20 Powerline LAN is it doable?

I'm not a big fan of the power line networking. In our company we tried to implement this as a solution for a customer in a retail store. We ran into an issue where the two adapters couldn't see their way to the switch when plugged into the wall outlets throughout the store. It turns out that these adapters have to be on the same leg of power as the other outlet you want to plug in.

I'm not sure of any other manufacturers of ethernet over AC adapters but the netgear product is good for home use mainly because all outlets in a house are on the same leg of power.

Granted they aren't pricey it might be worth a shot to buy 2 and test them or read some reviews on other brands (assuming your office is located on one floor in a building). If not you might want to look along the lines of another implementation like wireless.

As Zakkas said, this probably won't work in a large building due to the different AC curcuits the digital communications must traverse.

I'd suggest that you recommend to your boss that you go 802.11g wireless between the different LANs already in place.
