hey,

after some software that can track/record what sites and information people access from my LAN.

also what software do i require to block acess to certain IPs from certain ports, i want it so they can only go on the internet (website pages) and email (POP, SMTP), but no FTP or kazaa P2P programs.

If you need any details about the network, just ask.

cheers

A firewall, which also logs all connections or a NAT/Firewall combination and let the NAT server log all connections. For realtime snapshot logging you can use ethereal or your favorite sniffer.

First, when you say "Block certain IPs from certain port" you mean physical ports or IP ports?

Most of your stuff you can block by blocking IP ports with rules in your firewalls, but some people will still get around these if they want/try but it should get most.

Also, is this a work environment or public? If it's public, depending on your laws, you may have to tread lightly with recording what sites people view or have a EULA for them to sign in order to use the network.
