Question Laptop CPU overheating issue

So recently, I saw windows offered an optiona update which I chose to install. I was at university while it was applying the update and restarting, and I closed the lid and put the laptop back in my bag to take it home. After getting back, I noticed the laptop was quite hot and set it down on my desk to see what had happened and my laptop had apparentlly been on, even though I closed the lid, and for some reason using a lot of power. I am not sure what was so intensive on the system because nothing was open at the time. I turned the laptop off completely for 30 minutes but I'm still getting bad temps. These are idle temps with nothing really intensive open. Just chrome. Should I be concerned?
