Question Laptop fan making terrible noise(?) HP

Hello,

So I bought this HP laptop about 2 and a half years ago now. I got this laptop with the hopes to play some of my favorite games on it, but the fan would get pretty loud and my keyboard would heat up a bit as a result, which gave me anxiety bad enough that I just avoided using it for games for about the first year. I used to just figure I was being paranoid about the state of the laptop so I tried to ignore it in the beginning.

Anyway, as time goes on I believe it's gotten much worse. Now rather then just running fast or loud it seems to make sort of a clicking noise? If I put my ear up to the keyboard too I can hear a buzzing noise that I wouldn't say is normal. It used to only run noticeably if I was doing something like playing a game, but now it frequently makes these noises with as little as 2 Google tabs being open.
I've tried to run a variety of diagnostic tests offered through HP support assistant but every time I do, it never finds a problem. I have also tried to look at updating things like my BIOS but HP doesn't offer any updates for my laptop. I did update my graphics driver and am worried that may have made the issue worse but its hard to say. I also opened up my laptop and cleaned the fan with compressed air but it didn't make a difference, nor did any of my computer vents or the fan itself look that dusty to begin with. I have Speed Fan installed but most of the time everything on it will remain normal even if the fan is making the noise?

At this point I am starting to wonder if it even is the fan or if it could be something else entirely. If anyone has any ideas of things I could try, or what might be causing this please let me know. I don't know much about what to do, I've just been trying my best to learn.

with lower quality cooling in a laptop for gaming you should expect quite higher temperatures.

many will use a "cooling pad" with it's own fans to rest the laptop on while in use that will dissipate some of the heat.

what do you mean by "normal"?

SpeedFan should be giving you control over system fans and their RPM\temperature curve.

have you customized the fan profile(s) or just looking at the data the software displays without any manual user input?

I haven’t customized the fan profiles, just looking at the data that the software displays without any input.
