Laptop had hard freezes where nothing worked. Finally thought I had it figured out (bad fan), ordered a new fan, heat sink and thermal paste. Installed everything, and started it up with the bottom cover removed, Saw the fan spin up so I thought everything was working correctly.
Put everything back together and started stress testing it a little bit. Temperatures quickly got into the 50 to 60° range but no fan spin up. (0 rpm)
I thought maybe I goobered up the connector or something and that the fan had no power, but when I shut it down it spun up briefly right before the laptop turned off.

If you can control the fan from BIOS, look what it's fan curve is. Most likely it is quite lenient, whereby fan doesn't spin before seeing 70-80C. 50-60C is normal and if can be done without cooling fan spinning, then fan won't spin. E.g i have a GPU, who's 2 fans won't spin at all, until GPU reaches 66C or more.
