Hi forum, it's been a while since i've been here.

So, i have an 27" Acer (GN276HL) monitor, which is 144hz with 1ms response time. Pretty decent and gets the job done.
But the things is i am selling my desktop PC, since i bought myself a gaming laptop. I tried hooking my laptop to the monitor, but it doesn't output 144hz, only 60hz.
After i did some research, i found out, that my monitor is ( unfortunately ) not capable of doing 144hz through HDMI and my laptop has only HDMI and DisplayPort.
I did buy an HDMI to DVI cable, but it didn't work either. I have the option to buy an display port to dvi cable, but don't know if it would be wasted money again, so that's why i decided to ask here.
Will that work, do i have another option or worst-case i would need to buy a new monitor and sell my current one?
Also, i do have a 4k TV, which i really want to connect to have connected to my laptop too, but since it's an laptop and the ports are limited, would i be able to do that?
