Start > Control Panel > Network Connections

Find local area connection > right click, properties > highlight tcpip v4, properties

Windows 7...

Start > Control Panel > Network sharing centre > Change adapter settings

Right click local area connection, properties > highlight tcpipv4, properties

Windows Vista...

Reload with 7

The simplest way is to allow the router DHCP server to assign addresses to the computers, which are set to automatically obtain an IP address from the gateway. You may want to assign printers with a static or reserved dynamic address though.
