Lockups - FX Card or PSU?

Games are locking up... is it my graphics card or psu? I've already tried a generic 600w psu and had to send it back for return (really a piece of [-peep-], not capable of running anything)... however I just installed an enlight 420w psu and I'm getting different lockups than I got with my generic psu (hard freeze in game). I have an xp2700, 768mb ram, 3 hard drives, 3 cd drives, all pci slots full, 9700pro, few usb devices connected, etc... etc... large system. Is it the enlight 420? It has 18a on the +12v line... shouldn't that be enough?

Check in voltage fluxuation in bios and with MBM5, do memtest86, then do some burn in programs are the CPU. 18A sounds a little on the low side though...

Only run the essentials, 1 hard drive, 1 cd, only pci cards that are absolutely needed, and start from the ground up adding things until you find out what/when/if it still freezes. If it is still freezing then you have yourself a genuine 9700 pro dud. That or the psu is really messed up.

Games are locking up...
Boy thats vague. Games could be locking up for more reasons than just the PSU or graphics card! try other driver sets, close background programs, reinstall OS. It could be software, ram, hard drive problems, even incoming power from your AC outlets.

I'll try to narrow it down then with some more system info. for you... I have the latest drivers for everything in my setup and have tried different graphics card drivers. This is a fresh windows 2000 format/install 3 weeks old. Tried with all background programs closed, tried with different ram configs., incoming power from outlet is fine because I'm running a battery backup ups... I'll try running with the bare minimum and going from there...

Well, I tried running with minimal things installed (1 pci, radeon, xp, and 1 hard drive and 1 cdrw. Still crashes, however after replacing this card with a 9800 np, it ran fine and no crashes. It's the card, dammit... after three psu's. Mofo...

Ok nevermind, it wasn't the graphics card. The 9800 just froze... teh wtf... what's the problem? Maybe the motherboard? Tried running with minimum on and still crashing, this sucks!
