Long time booting

One-year Gateway P4 computer with a brand new installation of Windows XP
Home from the Gateway restoration CD. When the computer boots, it hangs
on the black screen with the horizontal bar graph that occurs prior to
the "Microsoft Windows XP Home" start page for about two minutes. The
computer worked fine before the reinstallation, so it is unlikely that
it is a hardware problem. Where to look? I doesn't appear to be a boot
virus, but I'll check again.

Try R.clicking my computer,properties,advanced tab,start-up/recovery,
at the top, press the scroll bar,FAST DETECT should be the only entree,
if you scroll and other lines appear, theyre the cause and need to be deleted.
Only one line with fast detect included in text, should normally be present.
You might also, try google.com,locate the BOOT VISE utility from a 3rd
party,it was supported by microsoft until about 1 1/2 ago (microsoft
software),
and run that for faster boot time.
