Hi there everyone was looking for some advice on selecting a new Mobo/CPU for a budget of around $400 AUD (for both)
My current Bulid is as follows
Radeon RX570 4GB
Intel I7-3770
16GB DDR4 RAM
random mother board i got from a university computer.
There is nothing wrong with my PC i would just feel better if i had a more recent CPU/Mobo, thanks for the help

Solution
Honestly, I don't think you have a worthwhile CPU/MB upgrade for $400 AU. 3770k/4770k/4790k are only very slight updates (and the latter two would require a new motherboard). There's no combination of CPU/MB/DDR4 RAM that will outperform what you currently have for the money.

Could you double-check your specs? You can't have an i7-3770 and DDR4 RAM, so one of those is wrong.

Yes, a significant upgrade will also involve getting DDR4 RAM. And it shouldn't be slower than DDR4-3200 with Ryzen. Without finding good buys on used parts, I can't imagine you fitting all this for $400 AUD and still being an upgrade from a 3770, which is a perfectly capable old CPU.

Well, yeah, but that's hardly a $400 AU upgrade, now is it? That's about a $1100 AU upgrade.
Would this be a good upgrade https://www.mwave.com.au/product/bu...wU0Hrfi6ntqAklWfhsu7B06qvcNcSw6xoCuIUQAvD_BwE plus like 8gb ddr4 ram most likely second hand so in the end around $550

It would be an upgrade. It's getting really hard to recommend 8 GB these days, however.
I think im gonna go with these it is slight improvement and is alot more recent the main reason i want to upgrade is for safety and durabilty as well as my current mobo doesnt even have things like usb and i have to use a converter to power it
