Hello all,
I've been too long out of the loop on hardware to make some good choices to grant myself a better Apex Legends experience. I have a decade old PC that has served (and still does actually) me very well but Apex Legends is slowly ruining my gameplay the past months. I can imagine that a series of factors such as, my low and slow RAM, outdated CPU, and a no longer supported graphics card contribute to this decline in performance. It's the only game i still play on a regular basis, and it's the only game for me worth to do something about it. Currently i run it on 1080p @ 60FPS, but as you might know now it has become very unstable in terms of fps and smoothness. Tinkering with the settings is not helping anymore.
So my initial question is simple, which hardware do i need to play apex legends @1080p 120fps?
My current PC has the following specs:
- i5 4590
- R9 390
- 8 GB DDR3 RAM
- 250 GB SSD
- 2 TB HDD
- GIGABYTE GA-Z97P-D3 motherboard
- Cooler Master V650 PSU
- Windows 10
My second question is, can i upgrade my existing PC with parts to reach my goal? If so what do you suggest i do or what would you do? And which parts do you recommend?
In the end it does not matter if i need to go out of my way to buy second hand parts or buy new parts. In this scenario there is no need for futureproofing or scalability.
My own thoughts were in the mindset of "maybe upgrade CPU + GPU and add more RAM" but at this point i don't even know if it's going to reach my goal since my PC is so outdated.
In the other scenario where i buy a complete new system if i wish to play Apex Legends @1080p 120fps, or higher resolutions such as @1440p 120fps or @4k 120fps the question is still the same; what hardware do i need to achieve that/those goals?
I thank you in advance for taking the time to read this post, for any comments, thought's and idea's. I am pretty sure it will help me a lot, really!
