Allow me to explain my predicament:

I just built a new PC. Currently stuck because I am running 8.1 off my old HDD and my new system (motherboard, requires drivers that only install on Windows 10.

I have a version of Windows 10 ready to install, but no USB flash drive to boot from. I do however have a brand new SSD.

Could I boot from the SSD with an image of windows 10 on it, and then proceed to the installation process from there, or do I need to do this from a USB drive?

Thanks everyone

Solution
A folder won't do it.
You need to boot from something.

What drive are you planning to have the Win 10 on?

Also, give us a rubdown of all the parts in this system, especially the drives and motherboard.

Thanks for the reply.

I am running an A390 Pro Wifi motherboard, Radeon RX 5600 XT GPU, 2x DDR4 corsair Ram, i5 processor, 1x WD blue 250GB SSD, 1x WD Green 1TB SSD, 1x 3.5 1TB HDD (current boot drive).

My version of Windows 10 is in a folder.

Thank you! :EDIT: I plan on installing on the 1TB WB Green SSD.

Yes.

But again, anything and everything currently on that drive will be wiped out.
Is it empty? Any data at all?

In addition, it will be reformatted to FAT32. Giving it 32GB capacity, no matter how "big" it is.
You have to undo this after.

I've just went through the external drive that I would use and deleted everything on it.

It's clear to me that the Rufus option for installing windows is how I will approach this.

The external hard drive has multiple partitions. Rufus has warned me that this USB drive has 'multiple partitions' and some that may not even be listed. Should I proceed if I know everything on that drive has no value to me?
