Hello,

Could someone help me in advising for a good motherboard which supports LGA 2066 socket for my new Intel i9 10940X Processor.
My current configuration is as follows :

  1. Nvidia Geforce GTX 1070
  2. 8GB DDR3 Ram ( Looking to upgrade to another 8GB DDR5)
  3. 750W Corsair PSU.
  4. Corsair Crystal 570X Cabinet.
Please advise me a good motherboard and also let me know if i have missed out to mention some details that could help you in telling me a good motherboard choice.

DDR5 isn't commercially available, so that isn't happening. CPU doesn't support it either... you will need DDR4, preferably a quad channel kit.

Crystal 570X won't support EATX motherboards from what I can see, so that would be many of the boards that support LGA2066, a little wider than your typical board due to all the ram slots.

You'll want to stick with ATX or smaller.

Really comes down to the features you want. This is a high end platform which will have lots of different options.

If your goal is gaming, this is the wrong path to take. i9-10900k would be today's choice. If you are doing workstation tasks, eh, would probably go for an AMD Ryzen 16 core, or even a Threadripper CPU.

Hey, thank you for your reply.

I am an avid gamer and actually got the Intel i9-10940X as a gift and have no ways to even exchange it for a i9-10900K, hence I am having to get a new motherboard to get my new processor working and running.
Now, coming back to the motherboards, I like the choices you have provided and also was searching a bit myself and found this Asus Motherboard: https://pcpartpicker.com/product/74pmP6/asus-rog-strix-x299-e-gaming-ii-atx-lga2066-motherboard-x299-e-gaming-ii

Would this be a good choice considering my configurations and also for further future upgrades?

Thank you.

Aren't really going to be any future upgrades aside from GPUs. End of the line for the platform I believe. Pretty sure next gen HEDT from Intel is going to be DDR5 in late 2021, new socket etc.

I would not spend that much if you are only planning to game with it. Certainly better off taking that price difference and using it to upgrade from your GTX1070.
