My bother-in-law has a Athlon XP 2200+ with 768MB DDR266 RAM, an GF FX5600 256MB on a MSI K7N2 Delta Motherboard.

In 3dmark03, he is only scoring 2018. That seems pretty low. Any ideas?? Could the PSU be too small and causing problems?

Other than the score being low, the computer works fine, no atrifacts or tearing in games.

Have you compared it with other results on the 3D mark web site using similar systems?

Actually, my friend had the XP2200 on the same mobo, with a GF FX 5600 128MB, and 256MB DDR333, and he was scoring 2600.

Also, in 3DMark2001SE, the system scores a little over 6000, while the above mentioned system with the 128MB version scored over 8000. All mobo drivers were installed, and they were both clean installations of Win2K Pro.

Set the slider in the nVidia control panel to "performance" if you havn't done so already. Also the 256mb version is WORSE, good purchase joe-average-nVidia-marketing-bullshit-eater! People should really check out forums BEFORE they buy stuff, not after they buy it and have problems with it or aren't satisfied!

Me: are you saying I can't provide?
Me: cause I know I can provide.
Me: oh and I can provide money too;)
Rachel:): why do we need money when we can just stay in our room and have sex all day?

yeah, the performance/quality slider makes a difference, and also the driver versions. The 4403 drivers will cream the newer ones in 3dmark2001. Not as good in 03 though. Make sure you are comparing the same settings and same driver versions.

Willamette's right, the card with more memory could be running it at much slower speeds.
