Hi, I've done something very dangerous and embarrassing today.

I got a new hdd and wanted to see if my 6 pin cable could reach from psu to the harddrive, and without any sort of judgement I immediately plugged in the cable to the psu WHILE the computer was on. (It wasn't connected to the hard drive yet). Of course the power went out as I plugged the cable with a noise. After a while I could also slightly smell some sort of burnt plastic. I tried to turn it on again and it luckily did but BIOS won't recognise my ssd m.2 which is(was) my booting drive. However it does recognise my hdd and an external hard drive.
I tried disconnecting everything and only left the m.2 and turned it on again but no luck, it still won't show in bios.
Does this mean that my motherboard is not too damaged but my ssd is dead? (I haven't got another system to test my ssd m.2) and If so, is there a way to just recover data from the ssd?

Please help!!
I really appreciate your replies in advance
