I recently received a Custom-Built PC from PC Specialist. Overall, the machine runs really well and handles the games I play nicely. However, when I am downloading games on Steam the PC freezes up and then gives me a Blue Screen error with the Stop-Code "MACHINE_CHECK_EXCEPTION". This has happened several times and means I can not leave my PC on overnight downloading games, since it crashes almost every time. This issue has not happened so far when I am playing games on my PC, it only seems to happen when I am leaving it idle downloading games on Steam. I am currently running memtest86 which has been going on for 3-4 hours, and no errors have been detected.

My Specs are as follows:
  • ASUS ROG STRIX Z390-F GAMING
  • Intel Core i5 9600K
  • CoolerMaster Hyper 212X (120mm) Fan CPU Cooler Black Edition
  • 8GB NVIDIA GEFORCE RTX 2060 SUPER
  • 16GB Corsair VENGEANCE DDR4 2400MHz (2 x 8GB)
  • CORSAIR 550W CV SERIES™ CV-550 POWER SUPPLY
-512GB PCS 2.5" SSD, SATA 6 Gb (520MB/R, 450MB/W)
- 4TB SEAGATE BARRACUDA SATA-III 3.5" HDD, 6GB/s, 5400RPM, 256MB CACHE

Apologies for any formatting issues, I do not use Forums very often. Any help would be appreciated!

Hi there :benetton::benetton::benetton:
This sounds more of an drive overwrite...Maybe usage a other install location path for the game ON A OTHER DRIVE.
Monitor your Disk drive VIA(Task manager)And restart your Download.
When the download has started check in Task manager if your Disk usage isn't High in Percentage.
If that's not the Case Try this Simple trick.
In Windows Search bar type (View Advance system settings)
Then under the performance Tab click settings.
Click the Adjust for Best performance Option then Okay then Restart your PC and Restart your Download and see if it has been fixed.
Good Luck.
