Major problem with reformatting

Well, I got my XP cd, I put it in the CD drive, got my bios set to boot from the cd-rom, all is ready.

When I boot from the XP disk, all it does is go through loads of stuff on the blue screen, then starts in stalling windows without asking me to partition it or anything.

I am trying to reformat my 2 IDE hard drives, and install a new windows copy onto my newly built PC, and this part has really got me stuck (got 3 copies of windows on one hard drive now).

If anything, it seems to flash past the formatting/partitioning screen, anyone know why?

Any help would greatly be appreicated.

Edit:

Ok, fixed it, Had to keep pressing the down key on the lead up to the partition screen, and it just appeared :)

Are you saying that on the blue pages you refer to you're not getting options to install Windows and if yes, format the drive? I have noticed an option to create partitions but you can definitely format the drive and do a clean install unless you have a defective Windows disk.
