Have a Dell Inspiron 5100 (no scoffing) w/ CDRW/DVDROM. Using Nero 6 to
burn. Everytime try to burn, states drive in use by another app. NOTHING
ELSE is running (that I know of) that would put a handle on the drive.
Every process and service has been killed or stopped that doesn't crash
windows... Don't know what else might put a handle on the drive.

Is it explorer? Don't use explorer to write CD's, I think that function was
disabled (how is that done?).

Not using CD Creator Image drive that sits in the tray to write CDs either.
At wits end.

Any help greatly appreciated.

Dave, try the CDRW as Master on the Secondary IDE channel by itself.
