... and we can do that, because at the right time in history we have stolen mos ideas from apple and implemented in windows... my take... there are innovators and there are imitators... some of the imitations get better than the original innovations... and again M$ can brag, apple iz knocked down... and apple did the same thing, when M$ struggled with vista... so... no meter who... i like the innovators most... cant wait until an MacBook comes out with AMD/ATi solutions... innovators in one place... but that's just my opinion... and i don't wanna make it in to the law...

[citation][nom]christopherknapp[/nom]I have both Mac and PC products. I prefer the Mac as a professional, but I do like my HTPC. Although, the latest Mac Mini looks very tempting for $699, I must say. This is a very aggressive ad, and I don't believe it to be completely true, as most of it is subjective. I don't really see the point of it to be honest, they are doing something like this "too little, too late."I realize TH is full of Apple hating PC fanboys, but Apple makes a great product, like it or not. No go ahead and thumbs down my comment, and please do it with a smile.[/citation]

While it not like we dont like apple products, It mainly apple them selfs.

Trying to make them self better than the rest when there really not. Those former IM a mac and Im a PC adds is what really got a lot of people to dislike Apple as there acceptable to the same stuff as windows. If some virus maker wanted to take the time and make a virus for the OSX, it could be done. There werent immune to it. they were just less targeted due to less people using OSX. If everyone went over to OSX, guess what would happen to it? Same thing that been happening to Windows.

Then there also (what people call) the "apple tax" as compared to the equivelent specs pc with an OS, there just expensive.

Last with apple be so closed up in there ecosystem, it hard to get some stuff you want. (take flash on the IPAD for example.) Windows, you have the choice if you want it on or not.

If apple was to reverse there ways (not being cocky, open up, ect) a lot more people would like apple but until that happens, these major dislikes will continue until apple moral improves. 😛

I love how any comment on here remotely positive towards Apple or even neutral gets bombarded with thumbs down... The Anti-Apple Brigade is just as bad the overzealous Apple fanboys they hate.

While I do have both Windows 7 and MacOS X, I like MacOS X for media stuff and portable work. Microsoft forgets that they create Microsoft Office on the Mac and even if they don't, people will use OpenOffice as well. I use OpenOffice on both Windows and Mac and do have a copy of Microsoft Office on Windows and Mac if I need it.

So the whole office thing is bs. As for the dongle, although it does cost money, I can change to different output formats without having to worry when I have a PC laptop. A PC laptop only has VGA or HDMI. Only the higher end ones have both. The Apple one has mini-DisplayPort which allows people to use any format (VGA, DP, DVI and etc.)

Apple has its audience and Microsoft feels threatened and they should be because Apple is playing the right cards to attract more customers. I use Windows, Linux, Mac, and FreeBSD, so there's no one OS that I back but do prefer MacOS X as there's no other easy-to-use and low maintenance UNIX out there. That and there's no better technical support team than Apple's AppleCare (when it comes to unrepairable situations).

[citation][nom]iqvl[/nom]Not surprised at all. It is like comparing Ferrari with Hyundai! Mac OSX=FAIL[/citation]Hyundai has a sweet two seater turbo coupe... it's relatively inexpensive and doesn't require you to pay 5,000 a year on insurance. FAIL

Talking about "Macs don't let you choose". Well, does microsoft share their Direct "something" libraries ? Every single thing about windows network sharing had to be reverse engineered to be compatible with linux and other os's. Then there were the font fiasco. Vistas's drm. It's like they said on "Top Gear" recently. It's hard to choose a winer since they both lose.

... for OS X i needed 15 minutes to understand... for windows? ... all my life... i did a repair a white 13'' macbook once... for the first time in my life... it's not often we see a macbook in Latvia... the repair went easy, the backup of data went easy, the installation went super easy... after i repaired it, i asked my self, why so easy... to understand, to repair... and it was the first time in my life... before i have repaired many pc's... a struggle with each of them... and i figured out... PC/Windows machines are there to give me job's... get it... JOB'S... 😀

Lets face it. M$ markets mediocre products, at a "fair price", better than anyone else in the software world. They provide products to the masses, and like them or not, they rule the roost.

Apple markets to a different segment that focuses on being different.

Since they do market to different segments, it is interesting that M$ feels the need to spent $$$ to compare Win 7 to OS X. Apple has zero chance of supplanting M$'s dominancy of the software market and Apple has stated that they will never release OS X into the generic PC world (doesn't fit their marketing model).

A bit of a head scratcher, no? Kind of like comparing Apples to bananas.

Microsoft needs to fire their marketing team and hire someone who knows what they're doing. The one thing Apple does best isn't computers, iPods, or Operating Systems... it's marketing. A company like Microsoft should have the resources to meet them on this front. Perhaps a catchy, humorous commercial would help... they seem to draw the most positive attention to products.

It's sad that I got thumbed down for stating the obvious. I've been using PC for the last 10+ years, but you have to admire the newbie friendliness of Apple products. I'm getting sick of this Mac vs PC crap. Just use what you like!

[citation][nom]Ethan314159[/nom]Microsoft is really grasping at straws here. Of course you can't connect an Xbox to a Mac. You think Microsoft would allow that? Not really a fault of Apple.Of course the mouse and touchpad on a Mac work differently. It's called an intuitive interface. Microsoft really couldn't understand that these days. The media sharing sounds backwards. In Windows you have to manually select the settings, and half of the time it doesn't work. Apple's out-of-the-box software like iPhoto is far better at say sharing photos than anything Windows has. Most of these points are a veiled way of saying, "Don't try new things... You may like it, but it takes time to learn. Be impatient. Be close-minded."Mac OS X is far easier to use and more intuitive. Windows 7 is a good step forward, but many of the great features on Windows Vista/7 were taken directly from OS X. Not to mention Mac OS X is far more tweakable than Windows once you go beneath the GUI. Obviously same story for Linux.[/citation]

Speaking the truth on windoze fan-boy site gets you lots of neg ratings. So I'll reply to your post so folks can read it. Glad to see I am not the only one seeing through the bullsh*t. I am embarassed for the mentally "10 years old" windoze fan-boys.

[citation][nom]dredj[/nom]Even though the tone of the advertisement is understandably biased, Microsoft doesn't seem to be stretching its arguments too thin here. For the most part, they're telling the main somewhat computer-literate populace that going to that cool-looking mac may bring way more headache than even Vista. I'll agree, too. My wife's laptop has vista and even though it sucks for me, it performs supurbly for her needs. A mac would only confuse enrage her as she travels from school->work->home where all they use is PC.[/citation]

Minus the Vista thing, i agree with you. They just played their strong suits and made an add around that. Except the simplicity one, i'm not so sure Microsoft can win that battle.

Everyone seems to be forgetting the most important point of all:

Think of the children!

NO, seriously - think of all the many childrens' lives Apple / iTunes / iPhones have utterly destroyed by instilling the belief that they must own a music device.
Apple has brought about a darkness with their products, and now Microsoft delivers a beacon of hope with Windows 7. Through focus of interest in music and "arts", Apple has dealt the greatest blow against Democracy this world has ever seen, and it truly is up to Microsoft to defend the fate of mankind.

Philosophically, it is that simple.

I can't think of a single area that Mac is better in than PC. It's not even close. Maybe trendability with the tight pants "it" crowd.....actually that's a downside.

I have both windows 7 and a macbook pro. I prefer windows 7 to the OSX, it is just put together better. They both have there strengths. But Windows 7 is just better and by that I mean the PC. The only reason I got a mac was because of the case and battery life and I was able to use the education store which made the price almost equivalent to a PC. I don't buy into the B.S. from the magical Steve that's for sure!!

[citation][nom]jonpaul37[/nom]haplo, Mac's are for idiots with too much money who want to look cool. Every dollar that goes to Apple products is wasted money that could be going to better use other than lining Job's/Woz's pockets. The profits they are making are completely outrageous and unjustifiable.[/citation]

While I am no fan of Steve Jobs or Apple, I do respect their right to run their business however they see fit. I don't think they're profits are unjustifiable. They can set their price wherever they want. If people are willing to pay the extra money for the Mac sticker, good for them. I for one am not willing to do that, but that's what makes it a Free Market. I'm glad Apple is still in the market because what they do continues to push other companies like Google and MS. In this way the Consumer always wins.
