[citation][nom]shortbus25[/nom]Who cares people who have hacked win 7 probably dont dl updates anyway just let it ride on the install + crack hope for the best while us the paying users dl and install and enjoy a problem free working program free of all problems!! "Yeah I probably wont install seems every time they fix something they mess something else up". Mine ran better when I installed and first patch had to call and get reactivated. Second time I got an update screwed video driver up and had to reinstall anyway then you guessed it had to call and reactivate again im done with installing not gonna change till win 8 July next year!![/citation]

Yeah...it sounds like your OS is problem free 😛

they let us have a free taste with the RC's and then cuts it off(shut downs every 2 hour),then charge high for the same Product(Ultimate RTM) Microsoft Pushing.... and Activation exploits are Cracks sooo... hmmm...

actualy Microsoft is in the wrong. You can't eventually force a person to install it. which microsoft will do. Remember Windows Genuine Advantage? What was the advantage? and a Pirated Key doesn't make the OS non-genuine. because a pirated key is a Real Key just used 100,000+ times.

I hate activations as they only hurt the legit customers, and treats them like slaves. Microsoft does force people to install this crap in order to install updates. SP1 will have this crap.

Deja vu...
"Voluntary" like the stealthy forced update of WU, on systems with disabled AU, in autumn 2007?
"See nothing" like the millions of WGA bitten, legitimate lusers, that got their systems falsely red flagged?
Who needs new drm junk, beside the whole heap of crap already running in the background, uselessly burning CPU cycles? Of course, it's just to "protect customers"...
Wintarded micro$uxx fankiddies will gulp this again, hook, line, and sinker.

[citation][nom]ubernoobie[/nom]I just wish people actually buy windows 7, It's actually worth buying since performance of xp with interface of vista[/citation]
As much as I use Win7 I think MS should get the shitter for renaming the OS with "7" when it clearly is 6.1. It's just like NVidia and their cards: they take the card, upgrade/enhance a little and give a completely new name so the people think it's a completely new product.

It's also funny how they know screwed up the product name relation with the OS version name. Eg. Windows 8 will actually be Windows 7.0

Why bother to get upset abot this...its a great OS go out and buy it , remember 32 bit is outdated get the 64 bit... i love this os i can even play Dungeon Keeper 2 from 1998 :)...have not hit anythig it cant crunch...cant say that about Vista...its not 6,1 its 7...

All hail the hypno toad

You know there's a simply work around for this patch and you don't have be a computer hacker to understand how it works. Don't install it. Just make sure Windows 7 is set to manual installation of updates so you can identify what your installing, I done this all the time with XP I was always on the look out for the WGA update.

Now I'm running a genuine copy of Windows 7 I don't worry about these things after all Microsoft did heavily discount Windows 7 before it was launched so frankly there was no excuse not to buy it this time around (plus the fact I work full time now and I'm not a skint student any more).

There are people buying it! I've built mashines with a legit win 7 install at least.

ps. xp is in theory faster than win 7, but one of my clients loves making photos and has noticed that his windows 7 icm makes his old canon photo printer make remarkable images compared to the same printer, on the same hardware in his xp install (dualboot) ... so even if win 7 is slower than xp, it's still worth it.

guys belive me piracy is a boom to the computer industry they wont want it to stop.not everyone's got money to buy every software they need.especially not here in india.belive me 98% of the pc are running pirated software from windows to ms office here.we have the largest market in asia located in new delhi(google if u dont belive). you can literally see game cd's and OS and sofwares being sold in the open. i bought 2 sets of dvd'd of cod:mw2 3 weeks ago (two coz just in case one does not work) it cost me 50 rupees for a set that is equivalent to $1.12... hahaha.. the point is the basic sofware's required for a regular pc user will cost him double the amount of the pc if one goes to buy.who's got tat money.pirated software make people buy computers. the hardware industry is getting a profit.surveys say that every 14th home has now a computer here and we are the second largest population AND we are still poor.you cant imagine what kinda money the hardware industry is making.we hav'nt got the asia's largets market just like that in a poor country.. think 4 a moment

Come on people! A full OEM version of the OS is $110-$150 for the 64bit version. Just get over it and buy the damn thing. I mean if the OEM version was over $300, then I could see people trying bootleg copies but $150 is not a huge amount for an OS that you will probably run for a good 3-4 years.

Voluntary huh? I have no problems since I am legit, but if you choose not to install this update, won't it NOT allow you to update anything else like XP's 'Genuine Advantage'...or whatever it was?

It's not the $110-$150 thats a problem for them most people as I feel that If you bought a copy of XP or any other windows system for $X amount then like most software you just update to the next version free! Do you think HP would sell alot of printers if you had to buy the update for the software too! All windows is,is a base program they keep changing and adding things too, cause they just now figured out how to make it look good it's probably still got the code from 3.1 in it just added more code to it. If you crapped out a terd and I polished for a week would you buy it from me cause I gave it a new look?

i might get voted down for this from MS fanboys..but this is an interesting read:
http://lauren.vortex.com/archive/000681.html

unless MS changed the implementation since this blog, basically this update (KB971033) will be phoning home once every 3 months to check if your computer if genuine. if for some reason your computer becomes a false-positive, your genuine status, no longer how long u've had it for, will be downgraded, and your copy will be treated like a pirated copy (black background, nags, etc).

i haven't checked it at home yet (which is using 7), but i hope they don't sneak it into "important updates" while still declaring as "optional", since many people probably have automatic updates turned on.

[citation][nom]tat2demon[/nom]Eh, it'll work for a week, then someone will find another crack. The never ending cycle. Sometimes you have to wonder if its worth the trouble of trying to beat the hackers.[/citation]
Meh, if they could squeeze an extra million dollars out of people to buy it...they will

"Searching for, downloading, or installing activation exploits or counterfeit software on the Internet is risky, because sites that advertise these pirated products often contain malware, viruses, and Trojans, which are found bundled with or directly built into the activation exploit or counterfeit software"

Oh the scare tactics!!! As I'm sure a few exists cracks built in exists like this...I wonder if this will scare some pirates into buying a genuine copy...~snickers~

As a genuine Win7 user, I still won't be downloading this patch. I've had to reactivate my OS 3 times since it's official release...motherboard died and install software twice that after reboot said "recent hardware changes have been made". I'm afraid there may become a day that I can't reactivate it and will need to maintain my rightful possession of this software...
