[citation][nom]trkorecky[/nom]Actually, Halo was supposed to be some haggard RTS for the Mac.[/citation]

And then it was supposed to be a third-person shooter for Mac/Windows, which vaguely resembled what ultimately turned into Halo: Combat Evolved.

It isn't exactly fair to say, as the original poster seemed to imply, that Halo would have enjoyed the same success if it hadn't ended up being rebuilt for the XBOX. The earlier incarnations were vastly different games.

[citation][nom]scook9[/nom]Many of us are still waiting for Halo 3, ODST, and REACH on PC....as well as Gears of War 2 (and 3 when it comes out)How about you just stop shitting on your entire pc fanbase....[/citation]
Eh, those games will probably be a Windows 8 Exclusive.

That's more or less what I said in the IE9 not on XP thread, "If there were a new game for the PC that was so jaw droppingly good that I'd think "WOW.... I'v gotta get this.... NOW" if it needed Windows7, 64bit, 12Gb ram, I'd buy it, but ....there is nothing."

What the PC also needs is some better gaming hardware & I don't mean specialist stuff like steering wheels, I mean stuff that can be used for everything else as well like:-

A true "Gaming keyboard" with analogue keys (like on the console controllers), depending how hard you press 'W' would determine how fast you walk/run forward etc.etc. Then for typing extra pressure could result in faster repeat rates & shorter repeat delay times.

And a mouse like the Logitech MX518 gaming mouse but replace the scroll wheel with a optical trackball. Its use could be toggled between trackball & scroll wheel and when in scroll wheel mode the left/right movement could also have another function... Individual sensitivity settings for each. The mouse could be used for quickly turning around & the trackball for more accurately aiming for that all important head shot.

I don't have a console and would only consider getting a PS3 for Gran Turismo but not at todays prices. If a new rally,FPS game were to came out for the PC however that blew the socks off all existing titles and took advantage of the hardware I just mentioned, I'd be in the market for a new PC & OS.

I would love to have a PC revival back to the days of Red Alert 2, Homeworld, and Mechwarrior. Those were some really good times.

StarCraft 2 might be a step in the right direction, but there needs to be more of a push to bring back the PC as the premier gaming platform. It's the best platform; developers and customers (read: thumb-button monkeys)don't think so.

As for Windows Live, I remember reading an article a while back about how they wanted to integrate it so that PC players could play against console players in the same game, but they scrapped it because the PC guys wiped the floor with the console jockeys.

This can be good news... but yes im not looking forward to the windows live platform. its shit.

On a side note, I would buy an xbox if they added mouse and keyboard support!

PC gaming wont survive if we entrust it to Microsoft. They're only saying these things because they see Valve and others opening up to other operating systems and feel threatened.
Valve is adding Mac support (and possibly Linux if the rumors are true) and indie devs are pretty much all supporting all three major platforms. Microsoft doesn't like losing it's monopoly so they start making half-baked promises.
Even though I have Windows 7 I use my Linux partition for almost everything these days (except some gaming (note I said 'some'. I have a bunch of games working under Wine really easily now since version 1.2 and since D3D 10/11 is being merged natively into Wine many newer games will probably work perfectly)).
Personally I hope Microsoft suffers a long fall from grace so they can see how crappy they've become and can better themselves for it and maybe start innovating to compete instead of relying on FUD and established monopolistic tactics.
Sorry for the rant.

Microsoft Flight looks like an excellent step in the right direction. FSX made Flight Sims a lot more fun for both the casual as well as the pro Flight Sim Enthusiast, and Flight looks like it will bring it all together with it almost being a MMO style Flight Sim (which I always hoped they would create). It may be a nitch to some but it is a big nitch since Flight continues to be a amazing wonder if a bit romantic at times when you put the proper locations, times, and aircraft together.

I do like how PC gaming was pronounced Dead a year or two ago, and now it is back with a vengeance.

Yet another hollow promise from M$ that they will never make good on. the 360 and XBL are their money making machines and they know releasing good games on PC would just cut into those profits.

Tried Gears of War 1 on PC and gameplay was crap I found. Might have been that I'm too used to first person shooters as I found Resident Evil 5 to be just as bad, if not worse.

Knock the dust off the Shadowrun IP that you guys aquired from Fasa Corp/Funcom back in the day, take your time, build it right, and they will come. They need an MMO to drag the WoW crowd in and this would be the perfect game in my opinion. Or, put it up for sale so someone can make use of it.

Halo is designed around playing with a Controller, the only way I'd support Halo officially ported to PC is if PC / Console was kept separate on XBL.

You can bet the farm that any PC games Microsoft releases will only run on W7. That's just who they are. Why would anybody want to play a game on a box with so few options as consols have and is unable to upgrade the cpu/gpu to maintain currency? It's beyond me.

I originally bought a PS3 because I was hoping that the collection of RPG's would be up to par with the PSX and PS2. It hasn't happened.

I purchased a XBox360 because Lost Odyssey looked like a great looking RPG and I was hoping that since PS3 has seemed to drop the RPG market that maybe the 360 would pick it up. It hasn't happened.

That leaves PC gaming for me which is primarily Strategy, FPS, and various types of RPG's. So, I have this great computer that allows me to play Borderlands, Civ 5, and WoW. While, I have 2 consoles that I have 5 games total for, and one of those games is a collection of old Genesis games. Hmm, if things don't change I'm not going to be much of a gamer in the next few years. It would be nice to see PC gaming being taken a lot more seriously.

After all, we are the truly hard-core gamers out there. We build, we tweak, we over-clock, and we tune for the sole purpose of getting the best gaming experience we can out of our PC's. If that isn't gaming dedication? I don't know what is.

Hopefuly thet arent filling ou heads full of BS and they actualy do something. PC gaming isnt dead but it isnt what it use to be, I cant even remember the last game released on PC that I had to have, im not saying there isnt any good games that have been released just most of them are sequals and the games before them were just as good.
When it comes to FPS's the PC rules I cant play a FPS for **** on the Xbox, you moght as well not even put the controller in my hand.
I started on consoles and when I built my fist PC ive been hooked ever since, you just get better control with a PC, not to mention you can build and release your own maps.
Xbox has several of its own FPS titles, the PC has what CRYSIS and now we wont even have that because CRYSIS 2 is going to be released on console.

Wow three titles that make brussle sprouts for breakfast sound good. Yes I agree what about the Halo series, Homeworld and the Mech series?

Dear MS,
I've heard this before from you and I didn't believe you then and I dont believe you now... if you were committed to being a leader in the PC gaming market you would have done it by now.
Good luck trying to find people who will even look at your awful games or anything that utilizes Games for Windows Live.

I do not need anything "Live" from Microsoft. I never needed it, and do not want it now.

If it requires "Live", I don't buy it. I'm not an iSheep.
