Consoles are getting more and more complex. Today they're basically proprietary PCs wih limited functionality. And the 360 with its RRoD was worse than any PC hardware. 10 years ago console players looked down on PC gamers, because you have to install stuff. Now they're installing themselves all the time. They even have hardware incompatibilty between different revisions of consoles (see Halo:Reach) and because of different HDD sizes.
With Steam the PC has its own version of XBL with similar functionality. They just need to push it more/get more games on it. It is so neat to see a friend play a game and just drop in or chat with them. I only wish SC2 would be on Steam too instead of doing its own thing..it only separates the playerbase.
But what they really need to do is to stop this ridiculous DRM-crap that some publishers try to pull off. (and then complain about poor sales on PC
😵)
They have to start making games for PC and not crappy consoles ports. I can't believe how many games have this "Press any key" title screen (and don't recognize a mouse click as key), are infested with checkpoints (no you can't save anywhere, because consoles don't support big save games) and have crappy graphics (low res textures, simplified geometry and just a few shaders to make it look a bit better)
And finally a dedicated PC GUI..most developers are lazy and only slap a few poor mouse controls on the console GUI..that is absolutely frustrating.

When it comes to FPS's the PC rules I cant play a FPS for **** on the Xbox, you moght as well not even put the controller in my hand.
So true, just yesterday I watched the trailer for the new bioshock and they used a controller while recording it..it is soo painful to watch them turn, then aim up or turn and then run without autoaim no console player would survive. I'll never understand why people like that. "Here's a backpack it will make carrying stuff so easy..do you want it?" 'No I'll juggle everything on my arms with velcro' xD
