Mitt Romney

"So what if the latte-drinking leftists at the Times once buried a Kerry elitism story on page... A1 of the popular Sunday edition just four weeks before the national election?" Stewart asked sarcastically. "How does that match up with the Romney story in the New York Times' famed home section, known throughout the world as 'The New York Times has a home section?'"

So, by burying the story, they do 2 things, supposedly keep their unbiased opinion, and not show their zeal opposing their idealism.
And Stewert doesnt get a pass on this, as hes of like mind, and simply cant recognize the difference, thus proving it.

Oh, and choosing this as their poster boy article doesnt clear it either, as how many were done?
At a time where their readership has determined their decisions, and playing CYA, just hoping for a JS to come along later, yet obscure the vast numbers, as how long did it take all of us, yet I have a feeling we will remember the Romney debacle for some time

PS
It wasnt an issue then, it somehow is now

Seen from the outside, those houses are not especially ostentatious. The Sun Valley house, for instance, at the end of a 100-yard driveway about a mile north of town, is smaller than many of its neighbors, and rendered invisible from the road by landscaping. The Nantucket house is set on a small lot, with a screened-in porch, and a green and white loveseat swing on the front lawn.

It is the neighbors who are unusual. In Idaho, the billionaire financier George Soros lives next door. Just across the river is Steve Wynn, the billionaire Las Vegas casino executive; also nearby are the actor Tom Hanks and Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger of California. The Nantucket house is on Brant Point, an area so sought after that a vacant lot there sold last year for $8 million after the house on it burned down, said Dalton Frazier, an island real estate agent.

Uh..JDJ I think they were being sarcastic. Isn't A1 the front page of the paper? They didn't bury it, they put it on the front page 4 weeks before the election.

Uh, did you read what I quoted?
This is an apology at best:
It is the neighbors who are unusual. In Idaho, the billionaire financier George Soros lives next door. Just across the river is Steve Wynn, the billionaire Las Vegas casino executive; also nearby are the actor Tom Hanks and Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger of California

Or:

Now, if this is the same treatment Romney is given, I think some are seeing something thats not there, and ignoring what is.
Making apologetic/downplaying comments, yea, sounds like the Romney coverage to me, and once again, the fact this isnt pointed out proves JS lack of credibility, cause it isnt funny if it doesnt fit.
Now, if you choose that comments made are equivilant, or simply ignore it, then bias comes in only 1 color.

Romney is hiding something also his wife said they would only release 2 years and that is it.This man is clandestine.

He isnt doing anything illegal, he most likely legally paid all the taxes he was required to pay.

But in an election season with an especially hostile electorate he cant be seen making a few million for not doing much, and then paying a very low effective tax rate. He isnt releasing more because he cant, it would be political suicide.

Could someone explain to me how you can claim a 77,000$ loss on a horse?

I wonder how much Lassie was worth?
Im sure she/he was hated and despised, and his/her owner even more so

PS Business 101, when owning something that brings in revenue, whether thru breeding or other capabilities, the value of that thing/animal goes up

77,000$ a year x 15 years = 1.15 million.

And the horse comes in 6th place, come on maybe if he brought home a gold no one would care....... It looks like it was a yearly deduction for hippotherapy. I own a cat that costs money to feed and house, how come I cant get a tax deduction for the little sh*t? Do I not pay enough, or did I miss the box on my taxes where I put in the number of dollars I spend on my animal?

So remember that you as citizens paid more than a million dollars for Romney's dressage horse.

Was the horse used for work related activities? You could claim it as an itemized-work related deduction on your 1040.

Animals are called luxury items. It is not a professional or social burden. Now, if your cat was used for let us say...advertizement, then yes; the IRS will allow you to deduct all expenditures. However, a tax professional is the best person to talk to about this stuff. Them or a financial attorney.

What ceases to amaze me is why people in general are fascinated with money period. Yes, I understand its powers in trade...but it does not make the man. It would be cool to win the lotto, that is a far and distant reality none the less. Does that mean I am a rich unpatriotic American who doesn't deserve the will or the average person? Let us say that if you win the lotto, you will be paying more than 25% on federal liabilities...25% is just the withholding. You are now in a new bracket, meaning more money to Uncle Sam.

Although oldman makes a point about Romney and no obligation to release the rest of his taxes, I would be thrilled to know what he actually paid. More information doesn't hurt anyone. It is strictly curiosity.

Again, simple economy 101
When someone can stud their cat out ar huge sums, and has a bloodline that goes back generations of known great breeding, then Im guessing you too would get a kickback, you could even buy insurance and get "kickbacks"
Why is it so hard for some people to understand how the system works?
Like Ive said a few times, during the DNC a few years back, not 1 rep was a business owner, and yes, there is something wrong with that, as business ownership is about 1% of the population, which would call for several business owners at that DNC.
The disdain shown is obvious, they simply dont want one.
Instead they search for this

What I would like to know is, what and why Obama is hiding?
He hasnt spoken to the WH press corp in 2 months.
These are the highest held, widest seen press group out there, yet he simply isnt there at all.
People want to know, and not seen thru him running for reelection from the local media.

Why are your remarks so asinine all the time! Romney cannot be trusted and so can paul Ryan not be trusted!

Are you kidding me he lost that much on a horse and this pig wants to screw the middle class and poor and seniors. He is a disgusting human being!

How does he want to 'screw the middle class'?
Can you provide examples?
Empirical evidence would be nice.

U should see what I claim in the taxes. We pay our accountant $3000, but he always come through.

Cut taxes on the rich. Eliminate programs which are important to the MC such as SS make it a voucher program and medicare and medicaid also. This man is for the rich don't you understand this now!

Has he stated why he wants to cut taxes for the rich?
Why does he want a voucher system? I thought that is what Ryan wanted?
What is 'rich'?

Actually a voucher program for Social Security isn't a bad thing. The primary reason most progressives and liberals don't want a Social Security voucher system is because it takes the money away from the federal government and puts the money back into the hands of the SS recipient. Ironic considering it was the SS recipients money to begin with before he paid taxes to the federal government.

I agree.

I wonder how the economy would be if George W. Bush had passed his version of partial private Social Security reform. Something tells me that allowing the people to divert their taxes into stocks/bonds/funds would have softened the economic downturn and extended the solvency of the program.

Let us see when you become retirement age if you choose this system than. i doubt it.There are over 55 million SS recipients on this program and now they want to give some petty voucher system for us to exist on. Pure crap!
