Question Mosfet Burned out (smoke). Motherboard now won't boot with i5 but does with i3.

I was stress testing CPU to check my temps and heard some noises from pc then it shut off with some smoke coming from the set of transistors above the CPU.
I was using my i5 13600k at the time it happened and after failing to boot up over and over (mb flashes red cpu led debug for half a second and it turns straight off) I tried my old i3 13100f and it seems to be working fine.
The board is MSI Pro b760m-p ddr4.

I'm just wondering if it's possible that my brand new i5 is not the problem here?

Make a high resolution photo of mosfet area and find signs of damage.
Your board doesn't have any vrm/mosfet heatsinks. Should be easy enough to locate the damage.

Anyway - IMHO the board needs to be replaced or
burned parts replaced (if you have such service available).
Ok I will do that. But do you have any explanation for why I can still run the board with no problems using the i3 13100f?
