Hello! My PC has been dealing with some boot issues lately and at this point I can't determine if the motherboard is fried, considering all the components are between 8-13 years old, in exception of the GPU.
The computer turns on but shows no display and can't even get into bios. Also, fans spin but keyboard and mouse don't turn on. I know it's a classic problem, so I have tried the following:
-I try to boot using only 1 RAM module, testing 4 different modules and swapping slots.
-Disconnected all devices and hard drives.
-Reset CMOS + Replaced battery.
-Tightened every cable and checked for swollen capacitors on the motherboard.
-Replaced PSU.
After replacing the PSU, the system finally shows display and the keyboard + mouse work, but I have to reconfigure my BIOS again. My computer froze while I was exploring the BIOS, so I had to restart and do it again. I save changes and turn off the computer to connect the SSD where I have Windows installed.
The computer turns on... and back to the first point 😕. It shows no display, fans spin but keyboard and mouse don't turn on again. I doubt it's 2 faulty PSUs in a row, especially with the second one being brand new. Does it sound like I have to replace the motherboard?
These are my specs, just in case it helps:
-Motherboard: MSI 970 Gaming
- CPU: AMD FX-8350
-GPU: GTX 1050 Ti
-PSU: Corsair HX850w (11+ years old)
