Hello all I'm trying to upgrade my PC and just wanted to make sure what I have is compatible with what i want.

What I currently have.
Motherboard - MSI Z170A Gaming Pro CARBON ATX
PSU - 600 Watts - Standard 80 Plus
CPU - i5 6600k
GPU - gtx 970 4gb

I want to upgrade to the 3060 ti and my CPU to the i7 10700. Can I upgrade or are there combability issues?

Solution
Z270/Z170 = LGA1151 v1 = 6th and 7th gen Intel

Z370/Z390 = LGA1151v2 = 8th and 9th gen Intel

Z490/Z590 = LGA1200 = 10th and 11th gen Intel

So the only CPU upgrade available to you would be the i7-6700k ori7-7700k, which really aren't worth buying new.

Common recommendation today would be a Ryzen 5600X as a more suitable upgrade.

As said above, without the model of PSU, hard to say. But if it has ran an i5-6600k and GTX970 for this long, it is okay, but probably still not recommended to keep long term. 3060Ti uses about 50W more than a GTX970. i7-10700 also uses a lot more power on average. So what is fine now might be borderline on a new build.
if you want to upgrade the CPU, you'll need a new mainboard
running both off a 600W PSU is possible, however it depends on the quality of the unit. "standard 80 plus" doesn't really say much.
Thanks for the reply, so the i7 10700 isn't compatible with my Motherboard or is it just my power supply?
