Just build a PC with :
XP 1800+, Gigabyte 7VRX, 256M DDR, Maxtor 40GB drive, Asus 6800 32M DDR, SB Live D.E 5.1, ATX 300 watt and Windows Me.

The problem is when it is off, the keyboard (IBM PS2) and optical mouse (Logitech) are still on, both connect to PS2 port(not USB). Did I miss something on setup ?

The other thing is that CPU temp at 61 C and System temp at 46 C. Is this normal ? What is the critical temp for XP 1800+ ?

are you sure the system is off and not in standby?
or hibernate?
61°C sounds high ( if you are using an aftermarket heatsink rated for your CPU).
not sure if it is the retail...that MIGHT be ok.
if your system is stable, dont worry about it.
a system temp of 46°C, i would worry about.
you need to get some airflow in there. add a case fan to get the air moving...because hot hard drives, and hot cdroms tend to die quickly.
and if you get the air moving in the case, the cpu temp should drop in relation to the case temp.
what heatsink are you using? and what are you using to get the temps?
and what is the temp loaded?

same3 thing happens to me on a pc i just built- asus a7n266, samsung opticalmouse. the light on the bottom of the mouse stays on even when i turn off the pc. And no the pc isn't in standbye/sleep mode??

Just click "Shutdown" from Windows Me, everything goes off except for keyboard and mouse.
HSF used is AVC 112BJ0-1 (recommended by AMD), Thermal Take 8cm fan (dual speed 2900 & 5000 rpm) for back casing and normal 8cm fan (2000 rpm) in front casing.
I am monitoring the temperatur using the SIV program from gigabyte CD. When loaded with Flight sim 2002 the pemp is 61 C. when not loaded the temp just down to 59 C.

you got the hsf fan on backwards? i did that and mt temps dropped from 65 to 35deg when i corected it.

I'm out of my mind, but feel free to leave a message.

My hsf fan is blowing down into proccesor ( as is come from the box). Is this right ? or should i change the direction ?
for fan casing, the back fan blowing out from casing and the front fan blowing in. I think this is right for air circulation.

is that just a feature on their boards or is that like the KBPON feature that most motherboards have?
that would be cool to just click the button and have the computer on...hehe.

Most Motherboards have a jumper on them to enable the ps2 Keyboard/ps2 mouse power up function. The Asus
boards jumper is called "KBWK" and if the jumpers are set to enable (default) then the led on the keyboard and
the optical mouse will stay on unless you turn the PS off on the back of the PC.

ah...i use my mouse on the USB port...
i suppose i could make the KB do it...
yeah..mine has the KBpon...i didnt know the mouse could do it! i suppose i learn something every day!

my mouse does the same thing as well.. it's still on even i shuts down my pc... so do i just adjust the jumper on the mobo? i'm using MIS K7T266Pro2 Ru

yeah, check the status of the jumper for the KBPWON...or however they mark it...
check the manual... it will say where it is and how to jumper it if you want to disable that feature.

About the temperatures: they are a bit high.

I had same problem (but even higher temperatures). Solution: I cut a hole for a 12cm exhaust fan on the top of case. Temperatures came down some twenty degrees. Luckily, a buddy of mine has access to a decent metal shop, so it's not an ugly solution, either.

Of course, now I have both noise and power supply problems...

there is no jumper on 7VRX, just setup on AMIBIOS.
PS/2 mousewakeup from : S1/S3/S4/S5. It's working. Klick mouse the PC will start.
It's a nice feature, but i still like my mouse off when shutdown. Theres is no explanation on the manual about S1, S3,S4,S5. Do any one know ?

A ha, i am considering your solution.
I am not worry with CPU temp anymore, since someone have about same CPU temp with similar PC spec.
What i am worried now is System temp (45 - 50 C), 15 - 20 C above room temperature. May be caused by my old V6800 card which is 69 - 75 C.
