Question MSI MPG B550 Gaming Plus Motherboard not detecting second NVMe SSD

I'll cut to the chase,

I've got a new SSD that's faster (gen 4 instead of gen3) and larger (2TB instead of 1TB)

My motherboard is not detecting either SSD card in the second M2 slot. (according to the visualization and list in the BIOS)
The first M2 slot detects both SSD cards, so the cards aren't faulty.

Windows Disk Management doesn't detect the Disk either.

I've made a reddit post about this too, but so far haven't been able to solve my issue.

Specs (including everything, just in case):
Case: MSI MPG Gungnir 110R
Motherboard: MSI MPG B550 Gaming Plus
CPU: Ryzen 7 3700X
GPU: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070 FE
Storage: Kingston A2000 1000GB M.2 SSD (old)
Storage: Sabrent 2TB Rocket NVMe 4.0 Gen4 PCIe M.2 (new)
Memory: G.Skill DDR4 Ripjaws-V 2x8GB 3200Mhz

Using 2 monitors:
MSI Optix G27CQ4 with DP (from GPU ofc)
MSI Optix MAG271CV with HDMI (from GPU ofc)

Also mouse, keyboard, controller, headset, mousepad and second monitor all taking up a USB port at the back.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

The only thing you can do is go to BIOS and check if there is any setting that can disable 2nd slot (unfortunately mobo manual does not cover all BIOS options). Other than that it should just work.
Yep some others on the reddit thread recommended this as well. I haven't found such an option in the BIOS myself, and I haven't found anyone else online that solved a similar issue like this... So I doubt it.

Got the proper bios?

I think so. I've tried the most recent BIOS according to the MSI website ( a version from march 2022), that did not solve my problem. I then tried installing te BIOS version specified for my CPU, E7C56AMS.100 (from 06/04/2020)

That also has not solved the problem.
If your sure there is no bios option to disable the slot then it looks like the slot has a problem.

What pcie slot do you have the gpu plugged into?

Well if you have nothing to do and you want to play plug the gpu into pcie3 and test each m.2 slot.
Actually that will not work for sure because 2nd M2 slot when used disables second PCIe x16 slot.
On the other hand, this would mean that you would get no display from GPU IF that 2nd slot was working. So if you put drive into second slot and GPU into 2nd slot and you still get display from GPU that would be very strong clue that 2nd M2 slot is just dead. So maybe not that bad idea.

hello, I have run into this problem myself with nvme drives, are you sure all of your m.2's support Nvme M Key chips. because my motherboard which is a x299 only supports nvme on pcie 1 and the other two connections only support the older style m.2's B + M key. Also are you using any sata connections that may be using those pcie lanes. and heres a link explaining the difference in the m.2's. Furthermore, I'd recommend you looking up your motherboards Manuel and specifications to see what your motherboard fully supports.
Moreover, according to msi's webpage under specifications for your motherboard, ("When installing PCIe SSD in M.2_2, PCI_E3 slot will be unavailable. ") what this means is if you have any device installed on sata that shares that m.2 slot then the m.2 will not show up in bios or windows. also, it say m.2 support will depend on your cpu. so if you don't have enough lanes then it won't. and does your motherboard support bifurcation, meaning the splitting of pcie lanes, if so then you could install a m.2 pcie card.
