[SOLVED] my 144hz monitor wont go above 60hz

Hey guys so i have a monitor (benQ zowie xl2411) but i have ran into a problem
i have a DVI cable which supports 144hz the monitor itself supports 144hz and my graphics card (nvidia geforce gt 1030) supports 144hz aswell
i have tried to change it in device manager nvidia control panel.. basically everything but it just wont work
the only way i can get at least 120hz is by chaning my resolution to 1024x768

According to Nvidia, the DVI port is only Single Link. Need a card with Dual Link DVI port to enable 144Hz.

Alternatively can use active DP to DVI DL adapter but these are expensive and sometimes may not work. Better off getting a new monitor with Displayport.
