Question my gpu is plugged in its on, the pc is on... but the monitor isn't

i’m 100% beginner on pc stuff. so this is might be the most ridiculous stuff you read today. so my gpu is plugged in but there is no display, i search on google, and do so many method that says “Worked” with alot of testimony of saying it actually work. my ram is completely fine, my psu is 450w and working fine. i was frustrated for not having a single solution to my problem.

So i plugged the vga cable on to the motherboard/igpu (idk the terms) while the external one plugged in and everything it works fine. i think the problem is on the gpu's plug. so i bought a different one... but its still the same. i felt so sad. i believe the gpu is still working fine, idk if this a software thing or actually a simple thing.

first of all, i completely noob, so idk whats wrong. if u guys think of something that might be the problem. even stupid problem (cuz im stupid) please just said it. Im so frustrated and sad, that i actually cried lol

If you have a dedicated graphics card make sure you plug in your monitor connections into the graphics card, and not the motherboard. If not, also make sure your monitor has power. Also how old is your monitor and computer?

core i3-3240, mobo ECS H61H2-M12 PCI Express 2.0, Ram 8gb ddr3 665mhz.
currently using old gpu 9600 gt, and it works well. never try the r7 240 on other pc, but it works (maybe) cuz the startup sound and fan is on, but just not connected to monitor

yes, when i plug it in on the gpu vga, hdmi, and dvi-d it shows that its not connected on the monitor, but when i unplugged it, and plug it on the mobo, it works fine. trying different gpu 9600 gt and it works fine. i guess the gpu is faulty? never had the chance to use it on other pc, but idk
