Hello,

So Im having a problem with my GPU's cooling fans in that they wont slow down at all. The fans spin at 100% no matter what tempurature, load, etc there is on the GPU. Currently it idles around 30-35 C so there is no reason for it to be running so fast all the time. This started happening only recently and I have no idea why or what caused it. I have tried reinstalling drivers and resetting my motherboard's BIOS even. Fans are spinning in excess of 4300 RPM and Im worried it will damage them, plus it makes my system much louder than it used to be before this started happening.

This is the card I am using:

Thank you for any and all help you can give

unfortuneately I have already tried this as well :/

yes I have the option to change and it reads the speed of the fan, but when I do change the option it doesnt change speed

No, the only thing I can see about my GPU in speedfan is the core tempurature

Okay, I just reseated my GPU and the fan plug on the GPU itself and now the fans are spinning properly again. I guess it was slipping out of the PCI slot somehow and that made the fans spin up all the way or something. Anyway, now I have full control of the fans again! Thanks for your help.

That seems to be what is happening here, although I can see the fan rpms in all the monitoring softwares I use.

After restarting my computer a few times the GPU is back to spinning its fans at full speed for no reason. It seems that simply reseating the card did not do the trick...

try a possible reinstall of your OS? i noticed when i did a reinstall to windows 10 my issue went away for a few months till i started getting a bunch of stuff piled on my pc again. im thinking it may be a software issue?

An OS reinstall seems like an extreme measure to take to fix this problem. I'd rather deal with the noise than totally reinstall everything :/

Something you may want to try is doing a clean reinstall of your drivers. Ive heard that helps.

ive done that multiple times, i noticed that it used to fix it, then once i boot the pc without display drivers, its quiet, when i install them it goes to 100% again. however it hasnt done this in about 4 weeks so im not jinxing it.

After a long while and some tweaking using MSI Afterburner I think I have righted the problem or it has righted itself somehow. Still no idea what is or was wrong, but as long as its working with no more issues, I am okay with it. Thank you to everyone who tried to help me with my issue, I appreciate it.

Can you tell me what you were able to do to fix the problem? My GPU is doing the same thing and it is driving me nuts.

its been over a year and i even sent my card in for a RMA to gigabyte and they had the card for a week and a half before sending the same card back saying they couldnt replicate the error and im still having the same problem to this day. its hit or miss, my assumption is it has something to do with rivatune(forgot the spelling) but ive done 2 reinstalls of my OS since then and still have the issue
