You get what you pay for. If you want low res low setting gaming that's locked in to allow you to do whatever Sony/MS decide you are allowed to do with their gear then by all means go that route. If you actually want great gaming though, then consoles are not where it's at.

Yeah people theses days... Oh thats right, Battlefield 4 wasn't a port.
a port would imply that they took the source from a console then "ported" it to PC, while in fact the game was developed on the frostbite engine then ported over to work on console processors along with toned down alot of settings and optimized for the lower level of hardware access that consoles allow.

Source:wikipedia.org/wiki/Battlefield_4.

at least try and find something to support your outrages Information you're trying to push.

Just wanted to Make sure OP was getting legit information I have nothing against consoles and I own 3 different ones my self, also I don't intend on trying to start a war.

Edit:

In fact No, console games have more control over the hardware of their respective systems.
this causes them to be highly optimized programmes VS there PC equivalents.

To get the same results PC game Dev's would have to work with the PC hardware Makers, which would make release dates Years longer than they already are, along with Drivers needed to be updated before you could even play the game.
Not to mention the budgets of games would have to be astronomically higher.

So we agree then? Consoles are a purpose designed system (My use of Embeded) and PC developers not being able to/choosing not to put in the time to develop to a point where games are as well optimised for all PC hardware.

after rereading both my and your post, Yes.
I don't know why I added more onto what you already answered

According to Icareus, this is not a big step up from his PS4...which must be some mythical PS7 prototype

I heard a select few got their hands on a prototype of the Playstation 14, leaked specs are :

i15 14.0Ghz 17.0Ghz TURBO 80 cores hyperthread
512GB of RAM DDR9
GeForce GTX 1980ti 43,000 cuda cores 80GB of GDDR10

Consoles are the cancer of Video Gaming

That's an interesting yet IMO short sighted observation.

The way I see it consoles are a well priced and simple foot in the door of gaming. Many millions of people learned and continue to learn their love of gaming on a console.

Some of these people choose to make the transition to PC gaming, some become game developers, all invest valuable capitol into the developers that produce the games we love and sorely want to continue to be released.

What your saying is analogous to someone saying that video cameras are the cancer of the film production industry and that only enthusiast level equipment is worthy of consideration.

If you care to elucidate your point of view i would be interested in understanding why you have such an opinion.

With the sole purpose of vendor lock in and fleecing people on game prices and service fees. All while holding back PC gaming since most games need to be developed with the low power of consoles in mind.

I'm sure he didn't mean it literally. It's a short sighted statement that shouldn't be taken seriously. I'm a PC gamer and have been for the last 10 years ( Got into it when I was 8 and now I'm 18 ). Anyway, I have nothing against Consoles, some people want the ease of just turning on their system and playing their favorite game and some just want a self built RIG for their needs. It's apples and oranges, two different things. However, that being said, it does get me annoyed sometimes where certain games have to be downgraded in graphical aspects because of consoles, which also leads to shitty ports and optimization.

I do mean it fully.

My past consoles include NES, SNES, N64, PS1, PS2, PS3, xbox 360 and currently PS4 (not owned, belongs to roomate)

I am in a position to comment on it I feel, as since the early 2000's I have also owned PC systems and built them from 2005 onwards for myself and others.

This thread summarizes pretty much all my feelings and gives conclusive evidence as to why consoles are bad.

Take your time to read it when you have a moment, don't just fly over it with your eyes, there would be no point.

Consoles can't argue their side this strongly

Thanks, I will take some time later.

For clarity, I'm a console collector and account for almost every console since the third generation and a couple earlier ones.... Excepting the current generation which I have elected not to invest in.

I was also heavily invested into PC gaming from around 1990-2005 and into PC building from 1995-2005 and am just getting back into PC's after a hiatus.

IMO the pinnacle of the gaming industry for user enjoyment and community spirit was the Commodore Amiga shareware years in the early 90's and in my opinion the conglomoratisation of the small independent games developers that happened from around 98-08 was the "Cancer" if gaming.

Incidently the current proliferation of independent game development feels like we could be entering another golden age of gaming.

All the best

When you're talking about game quality, look at the exclusives. Uncharted 4 for example looks better than pretty much all games in terms of scope and graphics. This is my opinion, believe what you want. The truth is that PCs are indeed superior but the cost and effort to make better looking games IS high. Also you have to take into account the fact that many PCs aren't very good, unless you don't want to make much $$. Consoles will be around for at least one more generation I think. After that I think there's little point as the computational power we have now is already close to very advanced photorealistic visuals.

What about the actually good exclusives? You're only listing the bad ones.
Kingdom Hearts 3(When it comes out)
Uncharted
Bloodborne
The Last of Us: Remastered

Those are just a few. Not saying PC Gaming isn't great, because it is, but the PS4 does have some things that the PC doesn't. and if those games interest you then it might be wise to own both a PS4 and a PC. Especially considering the PS4's Low price(Relative to a PC), it is around the same price as a good GPU.

So yes it is clear that PC's are superior, but dont act like the PS4 is complete trash

It's not complete trash...it's just a ripoff and a bad value proposition, despite its "low price".

I used to LOVE consoles...not further back than the PS2. With PS3 I woke up and smelled a rat...

My point is, the PS4 compared to what it is being marketed as is under delivering on a HUGE scale!

For titles not to simply automatically and without question be 1080p @ 60 FPS is DISGRACEFUL. I just don't care how you see this. The devs, Sony, the fanboys can make ANY and all excuses they want.

If you say "next gen" you need to AT LEAST, at the very MINIMUM, be THIS GEN.

On release the word next gen could have referred to the next gen of consoles...instead those lying shitbags at microsoft and sony started using the term as "next gen gaming". Well F** OFF!

Next gen gaming is NOT what the PS4 delivers, at all.

I posted a link twice to a lenghty explanation to my argument. It contains all my views.

So just to clarify. The PS4 is fine as a toy or light gaming system. It is a good living room accessory and it has some fun games.

The ps4 is NOT "high end", it is NOT next gen gaming and it IS holding back/negatively affecting game development as we have moved WELL past 1080p for a LONG time now.

If the consoles were say twice as powerful (which doesn't cost twice as much, especially if sony buys componenty in bulk) then we would not be having this argument at all.

It is Sony and Microsoft trying to make their profit margin as big as possible and lying to do so.

People who don't understand hardware (which is the vast majority) buy into it and we are left with the market we have today.

Just want to say this Icaraeus is Hilarious. He makes me laugh so hard, especially when i look at his "High-End" Graphic card on steroids. (Sapphire Radeon R9 270X (Undergoing RMA)) ahahahahah.

About the topic, Its my build, it is not finished yet, but I am loving it.
http://uk.pcpartpicker.com/p/6Mwy23

The only thing I think its not that good is the PSU (its Tier 2 anyway), that's because it is 750w, it is a bit overpower for my spec and if i want to do SLI or something probably i need to upgrade it. (I learn this on this forum on my other thread), but I paid £50 for it so It worth it 😛 😛

That's my 2 cents.

My GPU can max out pretty much every game.....my 270X lasted 1.5 years of heavy use. PS4 is not a ripoff. PS3 was high end. What the hell are you on about? PS4 is NOT underdelivering. It is disgraceful for developers to not properly code for the PS4. Sony never lied. PS4 DOES deliver next gen games. PS4 IS high end. It IS next gen. It is NOT holding back developers. If the PS4 was more than $400 then Sony would have lost BILLIONS again! Sony NEED the profit. The only one that has a misunderstanding is you, "hotshot"

It is confusing...technically you are part of the brethren...however the peasantry is so strong in you...

It's a sad thing when a difference of opinion descends into name calling, because there's no winners in that.... Everyone involved is lowered by it.

And to think, it's over a chunk of silicon, metal and plastic.

Time would possibly be better spent using the processing power to game rather than bicker?

How the hell am I a peasant?

Either you're the biggest troll on the planet, and if you are, holy shit give me trolling lessons.

or

You actually mean what you say and are twisted in the mind and heavily misguided and misinformed ( as you'll notice looking at the amount of people that are on your side (0) ).

Peasantry is a term in the funny and not to be taken too seriously PCMasterRace thread/meme/joke thing on reddit...

It describes someone who tries to argue that consoles are in any way shape or form better than a PC (because they aren't, this can be backed up by a plethora of factual information, an element you mostly avoid).

My beef is not your high regard for the Playstation.

My beef is...you are obsessed with it being somehow equal or better than PC and describing it as high-end when it is anything but.

You have said this repeatedly on this thread and others....read back your own claims!!!

Running Uncharted on 720 or 900p upscaled to 1080p @30 Fps is NOT high end Icareus.

According to you everything that is 1080p and 60fps and higher must then be enthusiast? That is complete and utter nonsense!
