Open the control panel for the audio and take a look see and see if you have
a choice of "room", "auditorium", etc. and if there's a "default", choose
that one.

Yes, do what Alias said oder go to Control Panel --> Sounds --> Mixer
--> Options --> Preferences --> and then choose the thrid point
(something like "others"), be sure that every check box is selected,
click OK and than maybe you'll see something like "reverb" or "echo" -->
set this to "mute".
That does not work with any sound card, but that was the problem on my
old PC, so give it a try.
