Question My TV box does not wake up my monitor from idle/sleep mode.

It's good to keep in mind that I only have this problem with my TV box (with my computer the monitor works as expected).

So basically I use my monitor as TV and as second monitor for my work.

I live in Korea, so the montior brand is not that known (Udea) and the TV box is a cheap random one from SAMSUNG that came wih my subscription.

The monitor has got ONLY ONE hdmi port, which I use for both PC and TV box (I just disconnect from PC and I conect it to the TV box when I want to watch TV, and vice-versa).
Now the problem comes when the hdmi is connected to my TV box. When I turn off the TV box, my monitor goes in idle mode after 10 seconds (as it should, not sensing hdmi signal).
However, if I turn the TV box back on, the monitor will stay in idle mode, it won't wake up from sleep.
It feels like it does not sense any hdmi signal from the tv box. The only way to catch the signal again is to: completely turn off and turn on the monitor again, or manually select signal source again.

Now you can understand how annoying this is as if I wanna watch the TV I have to get to the monitor and manually select signal source or turn off and on the monitor. I do not have this problem with my computer, which correctly wakes up my monitor. I also did not have this issue with my previous TV box (from 2013), which unfortuanetly broke and they gave me a new one (from 2016).

I read online that this might be because my new TV box does not support CEC or something, but I am not sure.

Any help, tips or advice would be appreciated, thanks!

But the previous TV box was waking up the monitor.

Both TV boxes are from SAMSUNG, the previous one was from 2013, the currrent one is from 2016.

would a powered HDMI switch solve the issue? I need one anyways since the monitor only has got one HDMI port
