Need GPU recommendation to pair with i5-3550

My almost 3 year old GTX 570 gave-out 2 days ago sending it for a RMA and i'm shopping for a reasonable replacement somewhere around $250 and something that will go well with my old CPU. The break down kinda caught me by surprise and i cant afford to purchase a completely new rig so i'm hoping to just get maybe a GTX 760/960(i prefer Nvidia) but would like some suggestions/advice first as to compatibility with my old processor.

Your Ivy Bridge CPU is still viable and would do well with a 960.
A 400 watt PSU with a 6-pin lead will power it.

For your budget and preferring nvidia, i would go with gtx 960. Your psu is more than enough and would fit your case.
