Need Help Getting Computer to Recognize Hard Drive

Hello,
I just put together a new computer. I-7 cpu on a MSI Z77A-GD55 board with both a solid state and a standard disk drive Western Digital Black Caviar 1 terabyte hard drive with Windows 7 installed. I set the solid state drive (sandisk 120 gb) as the primary drive. The issue is, although bios and windows recognizes the disk drive I cannot write to it. It originally was plugged into the 6 gb sata plug but I switched it in an attempt to get the computer to recognize it which it did. I can find it in the device manager which indicates it is at Location 0, Channel 3 Target 0 Lun 0 and the Device Manager indicates it is working but I can't save to it. Any ideas as to how to get the computer to recognize it so I can write to it?

Go into disk management and initialize and the format the drive. Start button, right click on computer, select manage, then disk management, find the drive in the list and right click -- use the wizard to initialize then format.
