Recently i upgraded my motherboard and ram. Reinstalled windows but kept having boot issues with windows.
However, its completely random. Most days it boots fine. Other days its stuck circling with a chance of it saying pc needs to be repaired. I thought it was boot loader and found there was an old bootloader on my hdd. I removed it and created a new one on my nvme.
It worked fine and booted normally without any hiccups for like 2 weeks, until.
Tonight, boot issues again. No windows updates, just up in the middle of the night turning it on and ran into issues.
This time the black screen saying theres an issue with the bootloader. Pulled out media creation tool, repaired, booted normally. Restarted had the circle issue again. I rebooted on that screen and it worked perfectly. Perfect. Boot. Than after restarting, infinite circle.
Im out of ideas and google searches. I need help. Here are some potential symptoms and fixes i attempted.
Symptoms
-NvMe was sometimes not showing in bios, its now showing currently and has not disapeared since reseat.
-Weird system freeze when startup for apps start, maybe app with driver issues?
-entering correct password when prompted in advanced troubleshoot is saying incorrect
-windows attempts to boot several times, circle disapearing and coming back with only the circle no motherboard icon for long circle boot attempt and it failing.
-no issues when in windows. NONE. Nvme drive is fine, gpu, cpu, ram, all of it fine. I played games for like 6 hours this after noon. Only issues when fresh booting.
- This issue mainly occurs when the pc wasnt on for a while, from a "cold" state. For a while, if i rebooted it 2 times when i encountered the issue, it worked booted perfectly.
- the error i got was 0xc0000185
- my gut feels like sometimes i need to press the power button for 1-2 secs instead of just pressing it for it to boot no issues.
stuff ive done so far
-used media creation to create a bcd efi boot loader parition on nvme, worked fine
-cmd sfc and dism repair prompts everytime i had an issue and booted in
-startup repair from media creation
-checked motherboard for cables loose or incorrrect.
- disabled vanguard for a while, still had issue
Theories
-kernal anticheat vanguard causing it?
-motherboard bad?
-hidden bad ram maybe? Gonna mem test tommarow. And i think there would be other issues right?
-bad sata cable?
-should i have windows 11 instead of 10?
- some startup program causing it? I have razer kb/m/headset software, nvme cam, medal, disc, steam, vanguard anti cheat, and wallpaper engine.
I use the b550 a pro and ddr4 3600 gskillz ripjawz. R9 5900x 3080 and kraken x63. I have 2 hdd 2 ssd and one nvme. Nvme is in m1 slot
It works perfdctly when it boots into windows, but i hate this friggin boot issue i got.
