This is my current set up ( 7600k, h270f motherboard, sli 1070, 500 gb m.2, 2tb hard drive, 650w psu, 16gb 3000mhz ram all custom watercooled )
im currently upgrading my moms pc and building my girlfriend a pc so some of my setup will go to them but i want to go with a new setup i want some help deciding what to go with
i want to go with a ryzen 7 3700x and not sure what graphics card to go with the price of the 5700xt is really good to me and doesnt seem to much different to other nvidia cards
my question really is should i bother spending the extra money for a x570 motherboard or just get a b450 board and also is the 5700xt good and worth it or should i wait for next gen i have heard that amd is brining out new cpus and graphics cards so should i wait or just go with what i was orignally thinking ??????

It's always tricky with computer hardware to know when to buy or wait as there is always something new due out...

Here is a run down of what the latest rumors are on new releases:
CPU: Intel have new parts due out very soon (they are 100% on the way, and we know most of the specs, just a question of when). The rumors suggest launch at the end of April, although that may not mean product on the shelves. The new Intel cpu's are essentially the current gen parts however, Core i9 is moving to 10 core, 20 threads. All other parts in the range are getting hyper-threading turned on so i7 is 8 core 16 thread, i5 6 core 12 threads and so on to better compete with AMD. These should be on a new socket, and max boost clocks are going up as high as 5.3ghz. It might be worth waiting for these to come out as should help drop prices on current parts a bit.

AMD's Zen 3 based cpu's (Ryzen 4000 series) aren't due very soon, they may be out at the very end of this year but honestly I think we would have heard more. My guess is we'll see them in early 2021 although I could be wrong (some rumors are pointing a September launch but I think we'd have heard more by now if that was the case?). Specs for Ryzen 4000 are same core / thread counts as now (given AMD already offer way more than Intel and they are going to be on same process that makes sense). IPC is supposed to get a healthy 10 - 15% bump on current Zen 2 based parts so that is the main source of performance uplift. I don't expect much of a clock speed bump for these are still in 7nm (maybe another 100 to 200 mhz?). Honestly it's a fairly small bump over Zen 2 so if you need something fairly soon I'd just go with the 3700X (that will still be a huge jump over that 7600k).

GPU: Both nVidia and AMD have new graphics cards in the pipline. On the AMD side they have stated they aren't launching new graphics cards before the next gen consoles come out (which I'd guess will be towards the end of the year) - I can imagine they may come out fairly close to each other. nVidia have their first gen on 7nm so that should be a nice boost from current products although again no info on release dates other than I expect them sooner than AMD's next gen. These might be worth waiting for - the 5700 XT is a great card but it isn't going to be faster than 2 x 1070 in sli (at least in games that support dual cards - it will be a big boost in unsupported titles e.g. games running on Vulkan or DX12). Given you have 2 x 1070, maybe you could build you new machine and use just one 1070 to tide you over until the new graphics boards come out? Alternatively you could invest in a cheap 'stopgap' card, I guess it depends on your budget and how soon you want your new rig?

On the motherboard side - a good B450 board will get the job done and currently supports the full range of AMD cpu's (at least with a bios update, you need to get a B450 Max board to get Ryzen 3000 support out of the box). The main advantage of the X570 platform is full support for PCIe 4.0. Like when we moved over from PCIe 2 to PCIe 3, current graphics boards aren't really fast enough to get much benefit from the faster interface, although PCIe 4 does benefit very fast NVME drives and such. The only thing I would say is that if you were wanting the option to upgrade to the Ryzen 4000 series when they come out they are pretty much guaranteed to work on the X570 platform, however we have't had confirmation on if updates will be made to older boards. AMD have been pretty good in providing the updated micro codes even all the way back to B350 boards for Ryzen 3000 series however that did cause some issues (many earlier boards had to drop support for older processors due to lack of space for the bios) so I don't think it's dead cert that older boards will all get Ryzen 4000 series support (although that is just a guess on my part, no official info on this yet).

Well, it will be great if you explain what are you going to use your new PC for, is it only gaming, gaming and working, gaming + working + streaming, etc.?

According to the lastest news AMD will be launching new desktop CPU in september (but take this wiht a grain of salt, considering whats going on in the world).

About your question on motherboards, The Ryzen 7 3700X is a really powerfull CPU, but I guess it all depends on what do you need it for?, The Ryzen 5 3600/X are also very powerfull CPUs. And cheaper.

As for GPUs, the initial driver problmes with the AMD RX 5xxx graphic cards seems to be fixed, and the 5700X is a really good product, the alternative will be the RTX 2700 Super. So far theres no "sure" date for new GPU launch, but I don't believe is going to be anytime soon. (My guess they will be waiting to see what the new consoles can make, but hey thats just me).

Motherboards, there are really good B450 motherboards, and budget ones too like the MSI B450 Tomahawk MAX, which will support every CPU AMD has in the market till today, Will it support AMD Ryzen 4xxx?, who knows. As for X570 mobos you have some very good budget offering on Asus been the TUF GAMING X570-PLUS or TUF GAMING X570-PLUS (WI-FI) really good boards for the money.

Cheers!

Ok awesome that helps a lot I won't be upgrading toll probably next month so I might wait for Intel's new line up and see what they are like and see what happens to the older stuff in price and then I'll hold off of graphics card upgrade for now until something new comes out or the prices drop from something better I'm just getting sick of some games being awesome and then some just being trash I have also started streaming that's pretty much the reason for the CPU upgrade right now it's really bad but hopefully when I upgrade that's will get sorted I have the budget for a x570 but it won't be the top of the line model that's all so would you say that I should be considering Intel if their new cpus are competitive against amd??

I would wait for reviews of the new Intel line up to make a decision on that - I still expect AMD to offer better value, although as Intel are already in the lead for pure gaming that will still be the case with the new 10th gen parts.

I think where you might have an interesting option is once the intel 10th gen is out, it may force a price drop on AMD's higher core count options - a 3900X would be a great options if you plan on encoding on the CPU for streaming. On the Intel side, the new i7 is effectively going to be a 9900K for less money so might be a good option is you are wanting max gaming fps and are happy to use gpu encoding.

Thank you for your reply mainly gaming and streaming I was going with the 3700x because I can afford it and it seemed to be the best that was in my budget and I thought if I can get something better then why not but I can consider the 3600x the 2070super is really expensive right now and then 5700xt just seemed to be in the sweet spot of good for gaming and budget O would get a 2070 or higher if they weren't so expensive and for the motherboard again if I can afford the x570 I will go with that for possible future upgrades but if there is a good deal on a nice b450 then I will certainly pick that over the other so I will wait till I get a little more money and probably see if I can get a 2070 or higher if not I will be going with the 5700xt and I won't bother waiting for amds new cpus I will see what Intel's new cpus are like and then make a decision from there if there are no clear winners from Intel I will go with the 3700x thank you very much for replying
