Something like this would be a good start. This would improve overall system performance.
For a significant gaming performance improvement GPU upgrade would be necessary also (but not within your budget).

PCPartPicker Part List

CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 3600 3.6 GHz 6-Core Processor ($174.15 @ Amazon)
Motherboard: MSI B450 TOMAHAWK MAX ATX AM4 Motherboard ($114.99 @ Best Buy)
Memory: G.Skill Ripjaws V Series 16 GB (2 x 8 GB) DDR4-3200 Memory ($72.49 @ Newegg)
Total: $361.63
Prices include shipping, taxes, and discounts when available

Its appreciated!

Check your PSU before putting any new parts in. If you have an off-brand, low quality PSU, then you really should look to get it replaced with a new, better rated PSU. I had a similar system, just a bit lower spec, with an FX-4300 and GTX 1050, but the PSU it came with was not a good one. It actually caused my PC to start crashing occasionally. Now I wont buy a PC that I dont know whats inside it, because of that (partially). I just stick with building it myself to know whats in it for sure. Just make sure it is high enough wattage for whatever you put in it at the very least. The lower quality it is, the more wattage headroom you should give yourself.
