I have a

Asus x470-f motherboard and
Ryzen 5 3600x cpu

my issue is that my PSU only has ONE 4 pin connector for the CPU and my motherboard CPU slot is a 8 pin, would I still be able to use my current powersupply by connecting the 4 pin into the 8 pin slot and having half of it empty?

Hey thanks for the reply,

The rest of my components are
750ti (750ti just gets powered by the mobo alone) and a 1TB SSD

the powersupply is a older model the brand is Insignia (Model: NS-PCW4050-C)

You really need to replace that psu, it may run on the 4 pin, it may not. Irregardless that psu has absolutely no overload or short circuit protection.

I would not be risking $350 worth of new cpu and motherboard with it.
