at the moment i'm running a asus 9800 gt 512mb

i have just under $1000 to spend

ill be running some pretty heavy games so performance is a must :)

what windows version do you have?if you have windows vista or xp.At your resolution go for a gtx 260 or a ati radeon hd 4890.If you are on windows 7 go for a gtx 460 or a ati radeon hd 5770(5770 is weaker than 4890 and 260 but still pretty good)

My rig
Intel core i7 870
6gb ddr3 ram
650w psu
MSI GTX 260 CORE 216 1792MB SINGLE CARD SUPERCLOCKED
Plays crysis warhead(the most demanding game of all time)at 29-40 fps at 1680X1050 Resolution.so you get the idea on how other less demanding games will perform

he doesn't need an extreme power card at his rez.as i said at 1680X1050 I get 29-40 fps in crysis warhead. At 1600X1024 I get 35-50 fps at which crysis warhead is smooth as silk
