Looking to upgrade my current system (i5 750, 2.67 GHz, 4GB RAM, standard VGA graphics) to a new gaming PC, which I hope will last for the next five years, in a budget roughly under $1000. So was fiddling around various sites and came up with the following configuration:
CPU: Core i5 4690k 3.5GHz, MSI Z97 GAMING 3 motherboard, G.SKILL 8GB X 2 DDR3 1600MHZ RAM, ZOTAC GeForce GTX 970 4GB graphics card, WD 1TB hard disk.
According to pcpartpicker, the current configuration will draw around 350W of power (though I believe it will be higher as I will be playing some high end games?)...so can someone suggest me which PSU should I be purchasing? I believe EVGA brand is not sold here (India) but someone suggested Corsair VS650 650 Watt PSU. Also my system is placed in a corner of my room which gets little ventilation..so I am thinking I will require a CPU cooler as well? (I had bought a AMD R9 video card for my current PC but 2 years later it experienced a problem and when I showed it to a service guy, he told me the card was gone and I needed to replace it...dont want a repeat of the same problem). I work from my PC and keep it switched on for 10-11 hours at a stretch. I often play games even as I work (FIFA, Total War etc) so I believe that my PC heats up due to being switched on for long periods of time.
Now according to the above configuration...I am already overbudget by around $50 and I still have to factor in the PSU, cabinet and cooler. I hope to sell off the current system for somewhere around $150 but even them I will be over the budget at the end...Can someone help me out in keeping the price down...say by suggesting an alternate AMD processor or the motherboard?
