I am currently having issues with my internet connection. This happened to me today while I was browsing the internet and the internet just randomly died, but then said it was still connected. I experienced this problem earlier, going through the typical troubleshooting methods. Eventually I reinstalled my ethernet drivers for my mobo and it fixed it for about three weeks, but apparently that won't work this time and now that I've reinstalled this time I'm getting a "limited or no connectivity" error and when I try repairing or disabling and reenabling I'll just get the same error.
My first attempt to solving the problem was restarting the router, but that didn't work. I have four other computers accessing the router fine, but mine won't. It's a Netgear modem/router and if my ethernet were registering properly I would have an amber light but instead I have a green light. So the problem isn't the router. I'm trying to figure out if I can connect with a wireless adapter without actually purchasing one, but so far I've had no luck in finding one that will work with the router or my computer.
The odd thing is sometimes I still have a connection, but a ridiculously slow one. I can ping to the router perfectly and when I ping to a website like google I'll usually get a 25% fail rate with the successful pings at around 100ms, whereas when I ping when my computer is working it's under 40ms. However, I generally can't log onto a website, though this varies (i.e. my google startup will work sometimes, largely in part to the cookies stored I'm guessing).
I tried system restoring the first time this happened and that did nothing either.
I have also run up to date MalwareBytes, AdAware and Avira Antivirus and gotten no hits on any of them.
So, in summation, does anyone have any theories on how to solve my problem or ideas of what might be wrong.
Thanks in advance.
