What ll be intel's next low end processor.when the much anticipitated 533fsb p4 hits the market.Anyone has a clue.will it be celeron using tulatin core or a cut down version of p4 with less cache.

the next low end processor for intel is going to be the the celeron based on the old P4's core (willy) IIRC...with 400mhz FSB.
not much i can say bout that...

It will probably use SDRAM to cheapen it up further on, they might strip some components too, or worse, some BUS speed. Therefore a Celly P4, is already worse than any Celly out there. A Tually is still better, and a Duron still kicks both systems out for an even lower price. Don't bother with Celerons really, unless you want to overclock Tually Cellys, which OC very well.

I think we're talking compairable to a 500Mhz PII if it's a 128 L2 Willy.

I thought they would make it a 128 Northwood simply because it's cheeper with the .13 micron production to make. Or is it going to be a .13 micron Willy?

Maybe they'll try to go a different route with it and pair it with EDO DRAM

Wish I could give you a link on this but I only have this on paper, the new Celly pross will be a P4 Welly core whit 128K L2 cache built on the .18u process ,the key factor for the new Celly will be the price, they are supposed to go at a lower price than the Duron on a 1hz for 1hz basis.

They will also be a new chipset for the Celly by Intel whit all-on-board that will be call 845GL,the new Cely 1.4Ghz will sell for around ESP 125$ Can (+/-90$ US).

edit;
Forgot to mension the 845GL is a DDR chipset...just to let you know

So? Some P4s are cheeper than some Athlons on a 1hz for 1hz basis. Doesn't make them a better value straight out of the box.

You can't compair the arcitectures on a hz to hz basis. Besides, Duron will be dead by 2003 anyway.

Relax bront,I'm just giving the Intel BS marketing speach that we got here at work...

I really don't understand Intel's thinking these days. Them coming out with like 50 different chipsets confusing everyone. (in everyone I mean average person) Intel's pretty tricky with their marketing, kinda smart too, is gonna make themselves miserable when more and more of 'us' become more informed about computers and so forth. Coming off of the tuallies, and going to the willy with 128K of cache is like running aquanox on VGA drivers. (exaggeration there) It's gonna suck and this die wil probably be tiny like 40mm^2. Hope they'll replace some of the stuff when they move to NW celeys.

It's just too much... the chip will be suffering from lack of bandwidth, it's just not thinkable. If I was chip-sensitive, I'd feel like I'm being cut my arms and legs! Utterly barbaric Intel!

Welcome to Intel's budget world. Ever since the era of the P3, the Celerons have just plain sucked.

Oh my!

50 different chipsets? Only 3 so far for the P4 (two, technically, but for this purpose i845 and i845D are separate). Did I miss what you were saying?

(And yes, I know you didn't mean 50 literally, but 3 isn't that many)

Head to head with a Duron. Oooo baby! I can't wait for a 1ghz Willamette with 128KB of L2 cache! Maybe we can get them to reduce the 8KB L1 cache.

look at the upside...the P4 celly will only last a little over a year (which is 12 months too long)

I simply thought he referred to all chipsets out there. Not just the Intel ones. [evil, slimy, sarcastic tongue]

Well, I looked around and here's what I found:

This is the one I was talking about. Like look at the chipsets: D850EMV2, 845EBG2, D845GBV, D845GRG, D845GLAD, and it keeps on going.

These chipsets are yet to be released, but when I first read this, I was blown away. If number of chipsets represented the strength of a company, AMD would be non-existant by now. j/k

Ahh...I see what you mean. Coming out with 50 chipsets as in planning to release 50 chipsets. I thought you meant Intel had come out with 50 chipsets already. Thanks for the article though, hadn't seen it before.
