New build shows black screen

Hi,

I just purchased components for my new PC:

AMD FX-8120 CPU
ASRock 970 Extreme4 MOBO
8GB G.Skill DDR3 1866MHz memory
Sapphire HD 6850
HDD and SSD

I put it all together. When I press the power button, all the fans start up, the BR drive boots, I can hear the Hard drives load up...even the CPU fan works....but nothing shows up on the screen. I know the Video card works since I took it from a previous build that worked perfectly.
Do you guys know what can cause this?

Power supply? Did you forget the 6 pin power cables for video card?

Power supply works if everything powers up. The power supply fan works too. The 6 pin power for video card is inserted.

We have a troubleshooting checklist that was created to troubleshoot this exact problem. There's a link to the checklist in my signature. Perform EVERY step in the checklist and let us know how it goes.

Is that your hypothesis? Obviously everthing ISNT powering up if you have no video now is it? POWER SUPPLY???

By the way, how does a BD drive boot up??

thanks for the checklist. I'll go through it tomorrow.
yeah, i'll check the power supply. It's an Antec CP-850 so at least I know that it has technically enough juice to power the system.

I meant to say that the Blu ray burner works. I can open/close it. The Hard disks also seem to be booting.

I'll go through the list and will let you know what I find.

Ok so the problem was that the mobo shipped with an older BIOS which needed to be updated. So I bought an AMD sempron 145 (40$) to do that.
Everything works great. the FX-8120 is soooo fast Love it.
